there's a bike mechanics video I can buy? I'd like to learn to wrench my own bike, but there is nowhere in this area that offers courses. I damn sure can't afford to go out to Colorado to take classes.

I've got the Zinn book, but it's kinda like reading a manual for the space shuttle. It's not real clear, and the diagrams can be confusing. I'm more of a visual/hands on learner. If I could see someone pulling a bike apart and putting it back together, I could pick it up real quick.

Have you used it before? Does it have multi-media or is it just pictures? I'm sure even pictures would be easier to follow than diagrams. I just ordered a work stand and a basic tool kit, and I have my son's old crappy bike that I can practice pulling apart and putting back together. :D

ask your shop if you could just watch them do a little wrenching. most everything on bikes is pretty self explanatory once you take it apart.

get the tools and go for it, but makes ure you have a pro check it first. you'll get confidence and skills this way.
