Jitters. Market has been flying high recently and considering economic indicators are strong (sure, interest rates went up, but not enough to drop it this much), I see nothing other than the political turmoil that could have caused most of this.
You seem to assume that the behavior investors is rational. It isn't. If you're investing for the long term, however, recognize that crashes happen and can be ridden out.
The market can remain irrational far longer than you can remain solvent.
