I have no idea where I am
On my way home last night I noticed that gas had dropped 30 cents and then this morning the price of gold was up. Usually when this happens it's the sign of a slowing economy. Sure enough after checking the news, I read that Munchin and Herr Twitler have been scaring the crap out of investors. Great.

And the other thing that consistently happened was Trump walked away largely scott free with his personal wealth protected leaving the smaller contractors and investors to get shafted......

I think he must have wanted to go to Tie Rack and someone took advantage of his latest request.

Correct me if my memory is flawed, but isnt extreme market volatility something that happens fairly regularly before big crashes?
Not necessarily. Volatility (using the definition of +-2% close) usually clumps together. Fear leads to fear, which is why we see clumping. But it's not really an indicator.

Front Range, dude...
This pretty much sums it up for me...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I resist because I was able to receive a good education in a public school, and I want all other kids to be able to say the same.

I resist because I was able to get a full scholarship to college, so I could graduate without a crushing debt; I believe all kids are entitled to face the future without dread.

I resist because I received Social Security benefits through my father, which meant there was a little money for things we might have had to do without, and I want all families to have that freedom.

I resist because I love my country, and do not want parasitic Republicans to turn it into a 3rd world nation.

I resist because I reject misogyny, bigotry, hatred and xenophobia, and want to fulfill America’s promise to everyone, not just the ruling class.

I resist because climate change will kill human life on earth if we don’t address it decisively and quickly.

I resist because economic inequities are greater in this nation than they have ever been, and there absolutely must be redistribution of wealth.

I resist because we were given clean air and water, beautiful vistas and amazing places, and want to leave it better for our descendents.

I resist because I am angry that Russia and Saudi Arabia dared to damage our self-rule, and there must be retribution.

I resist because out-of-control gun violence is killing innocents, and the GOP, bought and paid for, will not stop it, so we must.

I resist because women require absolute control over their own bodies, without which they are chattel.

I resist because people are more important than corporations and banks.

I resist because the implicit promises in the Constitution require every American to have access to affordable health care, to meaningful jobs, and to human dignity.

I resist because I support veterans, the disabled and the LGBTQ community, and will not permit them to be ignored and marginalized.

I resist because all the ills of our society are subject to redress, if we have the will to fight.

We must fight, or perish.

We must unite, or surrender.

We must prevail.

So I resist.

Two years in and we'd likely all settle for Murica being as great again as it was before he started.

broken clock... something something...
And it's not even that Romney stays constant like a broken clock. He wavers with the wind. He thinks it's expedient to talk tough about Trump now. He'll be another Flake--nice speeches, an occasional op-ed, and voting the party line.
