oh hell yes it was a waste of time trying to impeach that orange piece of shit.
it's not a waste of time. you do what you have to do, even if the outcome looks bleak.
If nothing else they lay out their case and those who willingly bury their heads in the sand may have to answer for that.
Better still, something comes out which shifts the momentum and we get 'justice', whatever that looks like these day.

if it wasn't fucked before this....it certainly is now.
It’s revealed the level of shenanigans that can be gotten away with if you just act ridiculously. It has revealed how the public behaves and what can be tolerated in the political arena.

The precedent has been set. I can only imagine what will follow in these footsteps.

Yeah? Well, have you SEEN my 401K? I'd be fine with a dictatorship as long as my portfolio continues to do well.

So the answer is sit by and do nothing about it? I find that picture pretty fucking bleak.

No. It’s not the answer. I don’t think the impeachment is going to be meaningful, other than symbolical. I think the answer is to vote him out. I suppose keeping the administration mired in proceedings isn’t the worst use of energy in the meantime.

Sometimes you fight a battle you know you will lose to simply slow the advance.

You're not wrong. I honestly don't expect the Senate to convict, but that doesn't mean the fight isn't worth having. What do you stand for if you don't stand against this administration, against these gross violations of Laws and Norms? (rhetorical question, not you specifically). The same people whining about "waste of time" are the same people who whine about "do nothing dems". Sometimes symbols matter.

True.
I also think that can antagonize and result in more aggressive attempts to advance.

Had there been limited resistance to the Wall, instead of deliberately trying to impede trumps attempt to deliver on his campaign promise, I don't think that would be such a shitshow (pulling funds from DoD etc).

The reality is even with a green light/blank checkbook very little of that project would get completed within an 8 year term.
The design, procurement etc would be glacial by comparison because, like the Ukraine favor, his real goal is to save face rather than deliver results.
Once he was out of office it could've been killed off pretty easily.

Instead opposition was made personal and the eternal poke each other in the eye cycles began.

"Inside the room, Pompeo shouted his displeasure at being questioned about Ukraine," NPR reported. "He used repeated expletives, according to Kelly, and asked, 'Do you think Americans care about Ukraine?'"

Can you imagine what else Parnas probably has on tape?
Remember how Omarosa wrote an entire book with what she had recorded on her phone in her purse?

But Hillary's e-mails were a threat to national security, or something.

EDIT: Ask, and ye shall receive.
