Am really sorry for you guys, and the world as well. Dark times ahead for mankind.

Was there a glass ceiling? Lack of movilization of dem voters?
Trumpers sure are passionate. Dont see that in the democrats since Obama.
There was passion behind Bernie Sanders' campaign....until his takedown

I think Harris drew in as much support as any Democratic candidate could have. there are just way too many fucking mouthbreathers in this country.

Still hard to believe one of the two major political parties can't muster a candidate who can run a semi-competitive campaign against a gibberish spluttering know-nothing microphone fellater.

Because the standard is so much different. Democrats are supposed to behave like adults and be perfect on literally every issue. Republican candidates can literally shit themselves and those voters still turn up.

my post on this day as on other social media outlets:

I’d say it’s not who we are. But that’s not true. It’s who a pretty horrifying number—a majority of those who got off their ass and actually voted, even—actually are.

And this time he made it explicit what he was offering. Now that there are no legal guardrails the only stops on what insane things he will do will be if it goes against the financial interests of the oligarchs.

My bubble of a sane city in a sane state will buffer me and my family as much as that’s possible. But many won’t be so fortunate. A dark day.

If shitting yourself is a pre-requisite, there's still a place in politics for me.

I don't know how the Democrats dig themselves out of this hole that's decades in the making and will likely persist for the ensuing decades.

maybe. Sounds like they're going to go after gay and interracial marriage, especially once they secure another two justices. I can see a hard R government passing a universal abortion ban at 12w as well. I just hope they gut social security so the boomers are fucked.

This morning started with a long call with Mom, 86 with seriously expensive health issues, worried about losing her coverage. :(
I'm exhausted by all this. His cabinet is going to be an absolute horror show of ideology and incompetence.

Medicare, ACA... there are a *lot* of Trump voters whose faces are going to be eaten off. Along with a bunch of other female, LGBTQ+, brown, and black people's faces. :disgust:

I feel for the trans folks the most. This is a crucial time in our country for the way they are treated, and it's not going to get better for a while, perhaps not in their lifetime in america.

I am interested in seeing how Trump’s policies will make houses more affordable for people. I sure hope he finds a way to do it that will prohibit corporations from buying up the houses at the same lowered prices.

I think one of the single biggest events in my lifetime that made the rich much richer was the financial crash in '08. While there were REITs before, man did that ever shift the balance as corporations gobbled up housing. No WAY they aren't looking for something similar and salivating at the chance to do it all again.
Yes I know that sounds paranoid and unrealistic.
Yes I believe it'll happen again.

yeah, but:

1. The impact of Trumps policies & actions will be very tangibly damaging for a lot of people. Maybe not you or me, but others will be affected exclusively negatively.

2. If the Democrats do not obstruct Trump, they will be blamed for not doing so. All of the horrible results of Trumps actions will become the Dem's fault. "Why didn't you do more to stop this from happening?"

Just like you cannot tear down society or the economy and rebuild it, you also can't let it implode on itself and start over again after the dust clears. Active or passive the idea is wrong and dangerous.

Absolutely a talking point in the next cycle. Either they get blamed for inaction or blamed for impeding what would’ve been “successful” if left alone. Unless Trump has an objectively and universally accepted attempt at a “bad” thing and the Dems save the day by blocking it, it’s gonna be their fault.
