Has there been any kind of numeric presentation for the expected results? Even something like:
Annual cost of immigrants being in the US
Less cost of deportation efforts
Net savings

Obviously this is a complex and multifaceted issue. It gets tangled up with cost of labor for immigrants which may or may not be replaced by citizens at a potentially higher pay rate. Assuming this “migrant crime” is alleviated by deportation efforts will law enforcement be reduced? Overall, I wouldn’t expect a clean and neat summary, but I’m curious if anyone has tried to quantify the deportation plan’s proposed benefits, as opposed to to simply saying “we don’t want this group of people here and we think things will be better when they’re gone.”

Not seen anything from that angle yet.
Did post this a bit ago regarding removal costs.
If this is halfway right, it just ain't gonna happen without kerfuckeling the whole system.

Pretty sure there was a concept of a plan mentioned. Do your research bro.

Everything I've seen/read over the last few years shows they (legal or illegal) have a net positive effect. In pretty much any way you want to measure.

The Right's wet dream of waking up one day to find them all gone. Heh. I've tried to have a conversation with a few Trump/MAGA neighbors/coworkers about what they think the overall effect of massive deportation would do to the economy/their ability to buy cheap groceries, but to no avail.

Ya'll are about the "American Dream" right? Oh. Wait. You didn't mean for brown people.

  • Overall, mass deportation would lead to a loss of 4.2 percent to 6.8 percent of annual U.S. GDP, or $1.1 trillion to $1.7 trillion in 2022 dollars. In comparison, the U.S. GDP shrunk by 4.3 percent during the Great Recession between 2007 and 2009.
  • The negative impact would be the most significant in California, Texas, and Florida, the three states that were home to 47.2 percent of the country's undocumented immigrants in 2022 and where one in every 20 residents would be deported.

I hadn’t thought of this. Is this another jab aimed specifically at California, like the limitation taxes in itemized deductions? Sure Texas and Florida take a hit too, but Trump might be willing to absorb those repercussions in order to put the screws to California.

Remember when the Trump administration didn't care about COVID because Kushner thought it would hit blue states harder?

I mean, illegal immigration is just a talking point to rile up the base. They’ll do just enough to cause a few problems then let it sit for a few years. Remember the wall? This is the opposite to biden’s student loan repayments

Yo I'll take Pam over Gaetz all day long. No ideas how many underage girls she has raped, but at least she spent some time...you know...doing attorney general things

This. They guys in charge (and i don't mean trump) aren't (maybe?) stupid enough to deport enough to really fuck with the economy/peoples food prices. Get rid of just enough to put on a show for the rubes.

If they actually do enough to cause a problem, they'll still figure out a way to blame it on the Dems.

We still gotta wait 8 or 9 years for all the post Roe/Wade babies to be old enough to start helping with tasks at egg farms. Costs aren’t coming down immediately.
won't be as many as you think. when vaccines are banned measles and polio will significantly reduce the potential employee pool for child labor.
