So, this thought has been bouncing around in my head…
How much of this immediate deportation plan is actually a systematic attempt to deport all immigrants here illegally, and how much is saber rattling to cause fear in immigrant communities with the real intent being to create a lever to keep wages suppressed for those who remain? I keep wondering that if 10% of targeted immigrants were deported, would it be enough to strike fear in the communities to the point that the remaining workers would tolerate lower wages and worse working conditions to keep their jobs… and isn’t that just slavery with extra steps?
