They are not the apple of his eye.
"I talked about that much more so than I did inflation," Trump said. "I mean, inflation was terrible. I think it was the worst in the history of our country, but you can only talk about it so long. The price of apples doubled. The price of bacon has quadrupled. Everything is a disaster. And you say it, and then what do you do?"
Apple Stock has indeed doubled in value since 2020. Everything else sounds is a mouth full of marbles.

Or labors by many headstone lapidary, this is a self-fucking-proclaimed 'Wartime President' after all.

Groceries are more expensive than ever and the platform of, "Biden can't bring your grocery prices down but I will" was promptly changed to, "well, it's really hard so maybe not."

Trump fired a bunch of FAA administrators, whereupon a civilian aircraft promptly crashed into a military helicopter. 24 hours later basically the entire federal workforce was encouraged to leave their jobs.

An unelected foreign national and his cronies are literally going around throwing government workers out of their offices and taking government data.

We just started a trade war with Canada.

One of Trump's first executive orders was a hilariously stupid attempt to simply rewrite the constitution via executive order. Several others are blatantly illegal on their face and just need to finish the various court challenges.

We've got people giving Nazi salutes on national television, and appear to be building a concentration camp.

The only thing that Trump seems to be very effectively doing right now is firing everyone who has ever looked at him sideways.

Wonder if Brian thinks we're winning yet?

Let there be war!! GO Canada! :headbang:

Seriously. Harsh time ahead for the average Joe on each side. Difference will be that our government will help people and businesses go through this. I doubt the Orange Fart lift a little finger for you guys. :(

People are only valuable to Trump in so much as what can they do for him. If the answer is nothing, well, they know what they signed up for.

Whats the end game for the tariffs?
It isnt "build it here", they are tariffing everything, not only locally replaceable stuff.

Are they trying to increase tax revenue thru tariffs, to later lower taxes for the millionaires?

It hasn’t been explicitly stated as a squid pro crow, but that sure looks like the game. Some Trump voters seem to think Canada and Mexico and China will pay the tariffs, not realizing the importer is charged and then passes it to the US consumers. How else will they support operations after the trimming of tax revenue? DOGE can only cut so much spending.

I kinda think it's mostly just red meat for the base. The rocket scientists that comprise a lot of Trump's fandom seem to believe that tariffs are somehow just a blanket punishment on the tariff recipient. As in, "Canada gets a 25% tariff, now it magically costs Canada an extra 25% out of their own money to make the things they already make." Anything that can be spun as punishing Not Them is a win for the Trumpers (even though it is, obviously, punishing them).

But to be honest, I don't know what the end game is here. Trump certainly doesn't care about lowering prices for anyone, so I suppose through that lens, this is indeed simply tax revenue but without acknowledging to the most stupid of his followers that he's raising taxes.

My take is that it's to force Canada and Mexico to reopen the free trade agreement right now, and DT thinkin he'll not get owned again like last time with Chrystia Freeland.

He thinks he'll score points by fixing the mess he created?

If it was anybody else I'd say that sounds preposterous, but that definitely sounds like a 7d chess move that will make MAGA go nuts.

He was losing over a grand a month under Biden and now he magically isn't. So yeah, we are totally winning now.

My guess is that he will create an even bigger mess elsewhere, cancel these tarrifs, and say “See how I fixed things with the tariffs, I’m the best negotiator” while people are like “Why did 150 of my friends die in the third plane crash this week”

The left media is throwing everything they got, including the kitchen sink and you're still taking the bait!

Prices will take quite a while to come down, I knew very well it will not be over night. This was the last administrations damage they caused.

The airline crashes has nothing to do with any FAA administrators getting fired, it was either ATC mistake, or the Blackhawk pilots. They were already understaffed before 1/20, but nice try!

All Canada and Mexico has to close their boarder to illegal crossings, and the Tariff's are lifted. It's not rocket science, just enforce it.

Musk did not do a Nazi salute. Funny thing there is footage of AOC doing it too, in this video on Gutfield. You should watch him sometime. FYI, he's not a republican. So stop grasping for straws!

You just don't get it. Over 77M voted for this in a lopsided victory, because we didn't like how things were going the last 4 years. Maybe you need to sit back and take a good look to why the left got blown out in 2024? All your little whiny tantrums going back to the same playbook that worked in 2020 no longer works now. You would have been better off having Trump win in 2020 because he'd be out of office now. Biden/Harris fucking up the country led to Trump winning. He had 4 years to regroup and now knows how Washington works and is really shaking up the country. Like it or not, you better buckle up!

So yes, WINNING!

They sold the simpletons on this dream of "returning to manufacturing" like in WWII. There's simply no way it can happen, but it doesn't matter for selling the dream to simple minds. Then they will just say that it was because of "x" or "y" or whatever that they weren't allowed to go full nazi and make it happen.

The world is much too big and diverse now with resources spread across the globe and multi-national companies that want to sell across the globe. No matter what we do, emerging industrializing nations will always be able to leverage cheap labor and undercut the manufacturing and production of highly industrialized nations. If US companies are forced to be completely holed-up in the US, doing all manufacturing, production, design, the world is going to pass us by so fast we won't even know what happened. We won't have the internal demand to keep up and no one outside is going to buy our stuff that doesn't offer what can be found outside of our borders. This is why it's always been a balance.

Anyone that thinks US workers are going to go back to stamping out widgets on a production line has brain damage.

Sounds awfully similar to N Korea. Yay
