Man, that place really sucks.

Im guessing that Smoky Mtns. National Park was pretty cool but I wouldnt know because I didnt get to ****ing see it because...

Well, me, my three friends, and all of our GFs rented this kickass Chalet with hot tubs, pool tables the whole deal right? Everything was gunna be good.
But holy **** little did we know that Gatlinburg apparently has the most AMAZING outlet mall on the planet or some crap and the girls spent THE ENTIRE FREAKING SATURDAY shopping at a stupid ass mall. WTF is wrong with "some" (and I have to say some or "some" women get upset) women? Beautiful ass mountains, bears, trout streams, snow on the peaks, and they go ****ing SHOPPING AT AN OUTLET MALL!!!!!!!!!
So then of course we get trashed out of our minds and everyone is totally gettng with each others GFs and crap that night which is cool with me, but then the next day everyone was too pissed off and wierded out to even talk to one another, so nobody would do a damn thing so I just left and drove home.
WTF?

I didnt have the fun I wanted to have, thats for sure. About the best thing we did is play mini golf

Id've rather gone to Dollywood than that stupid outlet mall. Me an my buddy just sat at a bar in this place called "the Chop house" and drank beer all day long, and of course the women were all pissed about that

Not quite the same, but one time I went to Tahoe with some friends over New Year to "ski". Only they wanted to hit the casinos til 4 every morning, and didn;t reaaly care from one day to the next whether they skiied. I was a little testy.

Sounds like a lack of a clear understanding why y'all were going. Maybe the gals went because they knew about the outlet malls, and are just as pissed at you beer drinkers.

Sounds like Gaitlinburg isnt the problem... its your materialistic girlfriends and your own drunken foolishness. My advice, get new friends and drink less. Its hard to get up at 6am and go trout fishing in a beautiful moutain stream when you were up till 5 am getting smashed. Which would you rather do??

My drunken foolishness had nothing to do with it :p It was my only retort to such a mind numbingly dull freaking outlet mall. But in truth, Gatlinburg itself did suck really bad too.

Im totally up for both getting smashed and going fishing...but friends are friends and you dont just get new ones. Not good ones anyway. These guys dont ride or anything, they're just old buddies from high school. I just wanted to see the freaking smoky mountains for a little while, y'know? Its nothing worth getting all new friends over :p

Yeah I still hang out with some friends from high school that if they werent already my friends I probably wouldnt even talk to. They dont ride or really have anything in common with me any more, but they are still my friends. I know what you mean. Ironically, my closest friends in the world are also friends from high school.

As for the drinking, it just bugs me alot when people let drinking effect other actvities that are far more rewarding like fishing, sking, riding, whatever... it's totally not worth it. And as far as hooking up with each others girlfriends... whatever floats your boat I guess, but the day I did that because I was drunk I would give it up forever.

How is Gatlinburg 5 hours from ETSU? When I lived there a 2 hour drive to Galinburg would have been long.

Oh I see.

WTF? I now understand. All the way from Nashville to shop at an annoying outlet mall. Yeah that is ****ed up especially considering the vast array of things to do in the smokies.

The best thing is to ride through Cades Cove like a madman. Scare all the old ****s by riding down the "steep" hills that the signs say to walk down. It is eleven miles. They close it in the morning for bikes and walkers but it is more fun to go when cars are allowed. You can weave in and out of the bumper to bumper traffic.

By far not the worst by burlyshirley, but really far more stupid than most threads. I don't believe this guy even has any friends. I think he gets lonely when biggins doesn't fish with him so he makes stories up.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
Gatlinburg saved the hubby & I last summer! We rented a kick arse place in Pigeon Forge, and decided we needed to get some tastey beverages. Well, Pigeon Forge is a dry town  so we took our rental (mustang convertable) and wound our way through the Smokey Mtns. to Gatlinburg...where the closest liquor store was. The funny part was the look on everyone's faces in Pigeon Forge when we were asking where the liquor store was...everyone sort of looked shocked leaned toward us and quietly told us that we would have to go to Gatlinburg. It was f'n hilarious!!! Fun ride through the mountain pass though and the liquor store was pretty much the first thing you come to in town.

And no, I didn't go to any outlets....I don't particularly enjoy shopping. Especially when sitting in the hot tub with drinks is the other option. :D

Why do you give a shiite what the girls were doing all day Saturday? You and the boys should have shed your chaparone caps and gone trout fishing, biking and stuff that guys like to do. No sense begrudging women their brand of entertainment. I NEVER go shopping with my wife and her girlfriends because it bores me to tears and I am grumpy company. The fact that the mall was hours away should have been a bonus because it meant more unsupervised free time for you. As far as "the next day" being uncomfortable, you shouldn't play if you're not willing to deal with the ramifications. Some things are best left between casual acquaintances.

side note: sittin in the hot tub with a bucket of ice, bottle of Knob Creek, a bottle of Jack Daniels and very little ginger ale tends to lead to wild things
mmmmmmm Knob Creek is the bestest.

I think you misunderstood. The mall was in town. They drove 5 hours to get to Gatlinburg, and then shopped the entire freaking time. But the mall had the same stupid stores that regular malls do. And the crap didnt look any cheaper to me either. But the whole point was to be doing stuff "together" for a weekend, so of course we couldnt just leave them there and go off to the mountains. And as for "the next day" yeah no ****. Thats why I said I didnt have a problem with it, neither did my GF, it was the others of course, but whatever.
Im not really looking for suggestions on how to make a trip that already sucked better BTW, Im just saying it did. The entire town did.
