Heh! Its Arkansas, what'd you expect?

What's wierd though is that even the private christian universities have adopted teaching evolution, yet these public schools are having issues? Odd that is.

I don't know how odd that is, really. Parents have much more sway over local school boards than they do over university courses.

Now, if Tom Monaghan's school started teaching evolution, then THAT would be odd.

Well, I just mean that christian schools are actually much more aligned with religion than a public school should be. You'd think if evolution were so despised by religion, they could easily get by in a university setting with other theories, but they choose not to for the sake of better education. You'd think the fundies out there would take a hint.

Anyone interested in stuff like that should read A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson.

It covers in broad terms the history of various discoveries and theories and a bit of the lives of the people who made them.

Fun read. There's a whole chapter on how old the universe is and the various different ages we thought it was.

Those in AK should try to rescue it from the burnings...

Considering this is a public school district, this is a bunch of crap. A good education is a well-rounded education. I didn't believe everything I was taught in high school and college, but I learned the information--nonetheless. If anything, it gave me actual facts I would use to debate my beliefs and opinions...

Seriously, can the coasts just secede? I want nothing to do with these states. The cultural divide is just too massive... if it's okay for Czechs and Slovakians to say "you know what we're too different to share a government" (they are about as different as folks from Cleveland vs. folks from Cincinatti) then what the **** are we doing trying to share a government and school system with these jackasses?
