Who here wouldn't 'dope'?
What I mean is if there were a clean, simple, cheap, and socially acceptable tablet that would pretty much guarantee that your day would rock, would you have any issues taking it?
Like if it were a commercially available sport drink, or an easy to digest goo?
Isn't that what we are seeking with these salves, just on a much lower threshold?
I put this out purely as a 'devil's advocate' question.
Who here could resist?
What if there were 'smart pills' , to be consumed before a test, trial, or presentation?
Or 'balance enhancers' for before trials comps, skiing, or what have you?
Who here among us could resist, if it were socially acceptable?

I don't think I'd dope. Nothing would mean anything in terms of accomplishment. It's like a video game where everything would be easy. The whole fun of trying things is progressing. But with doping, you'd already rock.

To continue the DA line of thinking, does that mean you are opposed to anti-depressents, Ibuprofen, Lipitor, or viagra?
If Viagra doesn't fall under the aegeis of a recreational, performance enhancing drug that has become socially acceptable, I don't know what does!
Are you opposed to grandpa having a 'great night', as opposed to sitting on the sidelines with a limp noodle?
discuss....

comparing doping to taking anti-depressants, lipitor, etc. for a medical reason is like comparing apples to oranges.

the difference between dope/non-life saving prescription drugs is pretty much arbitrary and based on social customs.

i dont see how a social custom shift would NOT result in individuals not changing their behaviour, since it has happened many times before.

How is doping different than say, red bull? How about coffee? Both can be simple chemicals that alter the body's physiology to increase performance in one way or another.

you have viagra for example. levitra. you also have ambien when taken for convenience.

there are a lot of prescription drugs, marketed, manufactured and prescribed for convinience rathen than to save lives, or improve critical life conditions.

BUT, taking EPO, steroids, and other blood thickening agents for reasons other than standard medical uses is not?

Hey Alexis, I had a total bitch trying to get an Ambien prescription quickly in Lima. Is it difficult? I have three friends(in Lima) who are doctors, but I didn't ask in time...hey, whaddup, Heuvon!

I disagree on that point. It's not like Floyd finished the Tour just because he was doping. He still had to train hard to make it to the finish, you couldn't just stick a testosterone patch on your balls and go ride the Tour. Sure he probably won because he was a little more doped than everybody else, but he can still say that he worked to get where he got. The thing to remember is that Steroids are a performance enhancer, not a performance creater.

I don't think that I would dope, becasue I don't race, I just ride for the hell of it so I don't really have an incentive to get faster at the possible risk to my health and damage to my savings account. If steroids were safe and covered by my health insurance then it would be game on.

It is not as hard or insidious as you might think. This article has made the rounds here, Outside Mag article on doping, and this guy hooked up with the right doctor, and he was on a full suite of testo, hgh, and epo.

Really, if you think about it, if you are not a professional athlete, you will never take a drug test or even be arrested for illegal drugs, because you will have a prescription...

I think taking medication to correct a life changing condition is a little different than taking medication that is strictly a performance booster.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like the huge size of my cock and balls. And I would never give them up in a million years, just so I could ride faster. No thanks, but I'll pass; and the ladies will be grateful.
