I dont believe there is a 1.5 double crown fork being produced. The 1.5 was only for single crowns, with double crowns staying at 1 1/8 because its all they need.

1.5 is unnecessary for double crowns because almost no stress is placed on the steerer.

Just buy a 1.5 reducing headset. They've got a big crown race and a compression ring that fit into the bearings. Very clean solution.

OR you could buy the Evil/E.13 reducer cups and zero stack bearings, for an even cleaner solution...

e13 reducers are the way to go. The cups for the Cane Creek Double X and Double Xc headset are identical- only the races are different if you already have one.

I have a Double Xc (1-1/8) and will trade hardware if you want/need or sell you the whole hs. Check the link in my sig.

Dang. I know 1 1/8" is plenty strong for a double crown steer, but I want to keep my current 1.5" stem and headset. To me (200+ pounds) and anyone who goes huge, bigger=more surface area=stronger=stiffer, especially in the stem/steer connection. To any companies out there . . . How about a double crown/1.5" steer retrofit system for existing forks? I think this would be possible because don't double crowns still bolt onto stanchions instead of pressing on like single crown forks? I'm on a Gemini and more and more frame makers are adopting the 1.5 standard. Do we really want to run the same front-end dimensions as ROAD BIKES forever? Do me a favor, take the 1.5" steer/crown, and DOUBLE IT! Yes Yes?!

Most motorcycles have 1" headtubes...Whats your point?
Please do not compare mountain bikes to motorcycles ever again. Thank you.

The comparison, as often as it is used, is stupid. Motorcycles do NOT have 1" headtubes, they have 1" STEERER TUBES, which are made of A HUGE CHUNK OF STEEL.

Bicycles are completely different. They rely on a weight vs. strength compromise.

Jeff 151, your wish simply won't happen for a long time. 1.5 is completely unnecessary for double crown forks, and do you really see a lot of guys destroying their stem/steerer area? I understand your wish to use the same headset, but most of the 1.5 headsets have conversion kits available from the manufacturer that simply replaces the crown race and top cap, and adds a compression ring.

Since 1.5 isn't necessary and provides no benefits to a doublecrown setup, no manufacturer wants to go through all of the trouble and expense of adding new tooling and new machine setups, not to mention a ton of new SKUs to their production lines.

Cannondale makes shims for a 1.5 headset to fit on a 1.125 steerer tube. They're eccentric so you can adjust your stem angle if you want.
