I'm in the process of moving to Massachusetts and was there today. I made sure to bring the bike along, "just in case". Thankfully, I got in a 2 hour ride at Douglas State Forest. A really nice day for this time of year. It's not often you can ride in shorts in the Northeast this late in the year. Good trails, and it's only 4 miles from where I am going to live. There's a lot of rocks at Douglas. :thumb:

douglas is a cool place. upton's nearby too, so you can stretch 'em together and do a big ride. haven't been there in quite some time though...i think the last time was a NEMBA/EFTA national trail day event about 6 years ago.

WHAT!?!?!??!?!?!?
I thought you knew? After having my position eliminated back in September, it became pretty clear there is no market for GOOD jobs in the Albany area. I expanded my search to the Boston area, and found a position doing the same thing I was here, with a nice raise.

You sure of that ? Upton and Douglas are about 20 Miles apart , Northbridge and Sutton are in between.

I could see You might be able to link into Purgatory Chasm or maybe the Hodges. Because the Mid-state trail does go right through Douglas SF .

well it's been a while since i've been down there, so i could be full of it. maybe just douglas itself was big enough to feel like an epic ride.

a friend of mine always wanted to ride the entire mid-state trail, making a 2-3 day adventure of it. that would be a cool epic.

That might be the case. I only rode for about 2 hours, and never went North of Rte. 16, or South of the Coffee House Loop on the Midstate towards RI. I'm sure an all-day ride can be had here.

Maybe you were thinking of Upton and Lake Whitehall as the 2 places you can do togther? From what I hear you can include a place called Peppercorn Hill as well for a 3 parks in one day ride.

The mid-state trail , the are sections where bikes are not allowed , and there are several section that are a couple of long sections that are hike-a-bike.

actually you can link, Whitehall, Upton, Peppercorn Hill, Hopkinton Town Forest and Vietnam for an Epic ride , Nemba Has a ride called the tripple basin blast where they do this.

I believe it. There were more rocks in the woods at Douglas SF than I've seen at ANY place I've ever riidden. I'm looking forward to learning more about the trails there.
