How in the world do you get other programs to play DL'd songs from iTunes?

not sure if you can, isn't that the point of having iTunes? you could burn 'em to an audio cdr i think and play them that way. but if the file is on your computer, why not use iTunes to play it?

btw, i've never bought a song from iTunes so i could be completely wrong.

Now I have to figure out how to get them OFF the iPOD.
