thanks man i appreciate that. im just crossing my fingers that he says im still allowed to ride DH
After cracking three vertebrae doing urban staircase drops, my Dr. said no more riding DH anymore. I still do, but now I am even more of a pvssy about it and avoid jarring drops to concrete/rocks/flat surfaces. Sleng-teng, Naproxen and Ibuprofen 800s got me through the healing period.

ahhh i hope nothing but the best for you. A close friend of mine just suffered a very severe head trauma (see the Alex Price thread that is stickied) and I know this can be very nerve racking. Hopefully everything will be good in the long run :thumb:

My bro had the same thing as you TJ, he still feels "dizzy" sometimes. I dunno about the sensitivity to light though but he could be feeling that too.

Head injuries of any kind take time to heal. Maybe months, maybe years. The head is the one thing that takes it's sweet time. That's just how head injuries are.

Good luck man, and even if he tells you to not ride DH it looks like some of that "XC" riding your doing is OK :) My bro is the same deal, they told him no biking at all but.......he is a kid and he's gonna do it anyways. It's been 8 weeks since his accident and I've told him just just ride on the street and around until he feels comfortable again. Then go to the dirt but he now rides 100% of the time in his full face just incase.

I would tell you my experience but you wouldn't remember anyways.

Just kidding.

Heal it up right. Your head is nothing to mess with.

I stopped going to the doc. Which is why I'm not as smrt anymore. I have bad light sensetivity issues, no more photographic memory, almost no short term memory, and my balance could use some help.
Trust your doc. concussions are bad, mkay.
You're just drunk. And if you aren't drunk, you're hungover.

Dry out and you'll be cured.

Did you follow the Dr.'s original recommendations, or did you just do your own thing?

What's a DHer need a head for anyway? Just kidding. I hope you're OK. Post-concussion syndrome can take a year or two to resolve. And the worst thing you can do is go out and bang your noggin again before all your symptoms are gone. Listen to your doc or go see a good sports med doc if you don' t like what your doc tells you.

I love it when docs say that.... "Oh...you're bleeding out...we don't know why, but don't worry, we should know what's wrong before you kick the bucket...."

I'm guessing by your avatar that there are other things you do to numb the pain as well....;)

Lovely. Mine started with a headache that wouldn't go away(think hangover + ice cream headache). I was having some mild balance problems (like someone is pushing on my head with one finger), and realized I was having some problems with word finding, short term to long term memory, and some emotional problems. Eventually I realized I was missing some longer term memories. I went to a brain injury specialist and found out I have permanent brain damage. Fortunately I had a rather good brain to start with, or I'd be looking at a career of a telephone sanitizer.

From what I gather, the type of brain damage a concussion leaves isn't usually visible on a MRI. The brain is like a sponge, and during a concussion a couple of things happen. One is a massive release of neurotransmitters, the other is physical damage to the structure of the brain, which isn't visible on an MRI.

It's taken over a year but my headache has finally lessened and my cognative difficulties are finally getting better. Keep your chin up.
