We've been doing this for 3-4 years now. Last drink on GF's birthday on 19/01 up until we go on the road for our annual road trip in mid April.

I've read about your sleeping woes. For me, more than one drink after 5pm and I sleep poorly.

I wish you all the best. As much as I need to detox from very wet december, I will probably continue to booze until my collection goes away then dry out. For me, this is way easier to do when you have a poorly stocked cabinet and not when you just got two cases of your favorite brew.

Hopefully some time in feb-ish I will venture to dry out!

Good news everyone, I hope you can maintain a solid stint of abstinence.

I will never say i quit smoking cigarettes, but I haven't had one in twelve plus years.

I can't say the same with booze.

I haven't had a drink since around December 11th I am not sure if it will last long, but I guess I should keep going.

4 days in. Sleeping incredibly well.
My local brewery has their 12yr anniversary party later this month, I anticipate falling off in about 11 days from now.

I too fell off the wagon yesterday. Met a buddy from the hangar for lunch, beer was had. Not sure if it was the two very light beers I had at lunch but holy shit did I sleep poorly last night. Starting over today.

Technically, I could say I’m on day 2….I CONFESS that I had some NyQuil last week when I had likely Covid and two competing sinus/throat infections.
Im SO ashamed.
Should I call my sponsor?

Do you feel like you need to call your sponsor? Life after the holidays can often feel depressing and vulnerable to substance abuse.

I'm not judging, it's good you feel safe to open up about your 'issues' here.

Haha, no, I’m good. Took it for three nights, did what it should, and I put back in the cabinet. I’m just not interested in playing with fire.
But I will eat some Tiramisu or whatever now, which I wouldn’t have done 5 years in.
I haven’t been ‘program oriented’ in over a decade, it just wasn’t for me. I definitely have lots of people in my life that I can lean on if things got dire, which is what’s it’s all about.

(all you clowns included) :p

Out of curiosity, for the people that wear smart watches to bed-
How much higher is your sleep HR after you have a few alcoholic bevvies compared to a sober night?

Make that 8 outta 10.
Grabbed a beer last night after skiing all day. Honestly it was more for the social aspect of going out and seeing people.

@HardtailHack I don’t wear my watch at night so can’t comment on HR, but I can say I feel better in almost every way.
I too caved and had a single sangria at Amicas yesterday to go with the whole pizza I ate. No ragrets. I am sleeping MUCH better these days. Certainly a lesson in how much even just a drink throws off my system. I've even quit taking the trazadone, which is also seeming like a good thing. Way more energy during the day.

:stupid:
You and I have both talked about our insomnia on here for many years. Even two days with no alcohol and I sleep so soundly and wake up so rested, which usually means I choose to work out in the morning, which usually means I feel better during the rest of the day. I can see me turning into a 2-3x a month drinker at best. The girlfriend is on 12 days now and didn’t seem to miss out at all.

Mine isn't changing much at all, but I don't sleep that good anymore either.

Rode with a friend yesterday, he quit drinking in September we didn't stop anywhere after ride, it is just cheaper that way.

After getting called out by @Jozz, I did fall off the wagon last night when I met a local run club at a local brewery. Had two beers at Hop Farm Brewing if you're ever in PIT, solid 8/10. Great beer, fantastic burger. That said, I slept like dog shit last night. Not that I've been sleeping great in a strange town, strange place and strange bed, but last night was egregious. :dead:

10 days. I have a banquet to attend this weekend, I had considered having a cocktail with dinner that night. Decided to ride it out till the end of the month instead. Getting good sleep (Well, not so much good as less bad.) is a nice benefit.
