I have marks on my xc tubes as long as I don't use some stupid uber light tube.

Me too, but I have noticed the pinch flat/pinch mark ratio seems to be much smaller with thick tubes.

Anyway, the tube is much less important in preventing flats than the tire casing and pressure, and the thick tube can't prevent any rim dents.
