The issue is on a DT Swiss 340 rear hub. When the wheel is placed in the drop outs and the thru axle is just barely tightened the cassette will lock up.
I also own a DT Swiss Hugi hub so I am quite familiar with their inner working. When I pull the free hub body off the hub and go to put it back on there is no firm "click" signifying the freehub body has locked in place. On the Hugi, you can tell when the freehub hooks up.
Secondly, when the free hub body is in place, there is more friction that is not allowing the hub to free wheel as smoothly.
Any issue with the actual freehub body can be ruled out. I can switch the freehubs between the 340 and the Hugi, both work without issues on the Hugi hub.
Any suggestions on what to do next?
