Has anyone used em? I think Hutchinson is the only company making tires that are actually tubeless right now. Colorado Cyclist has the non-tubeless version on sale, but I think it would be cool to have the option for tubeless...I'm not much for sew-up...too lazy. If you have them lets hear what you think of them. TIA

That would be correct, but in a complete answer, I have a set, they ride nice, smooth supple ride, feel very connected to the road. Personally I dont think they are gonna take off and be too terribly popular, Mavic has flat out said No to making a tubeless wheel to compete with them. They are nice, not hard to assemble, pain to patch. In the long run, I will still take my Open pro's and tubes.

If your from my Area, you can Demo the tubeless fromo ur shop, Basic setup, Pay for the Wheelset, ride them for Said amount of time, Bring them back in same condition you got them, get money back.

don't have them. from what our customers have said, the ride is better..."much better." during Hotter Than Hell, we handed out a few demo sets for people to ride. if those people haven't bought them yet, they are about to. i think we've sold about 5 pair so far.

the Mavic rep told us they were going to be doing a tubeless wheel. who knows....

I wish I was in your area so I could demo them, I'm in Salem, OR.

What's your reason for going tubeless?
I run tubeless for XC and DH, so I figured why not road? Plus my friend prototyped the new stans tubeless system and said it works pretty well. I'm in the market for a new wheelset and cyclingnews.com said these wheels were stiff and nice, so I thought "hey, they're tubeless and good wheels". I was looking for some feedback from people who have ridden them who aren't associated with a publication.

I do have one more question, which Dura-Ace wheels did you guys have the option to try? The SL or the carbon model?

SL's Our Other shop in Riverside got a set of the Carbons.
Since were talking about wheels, anyone else get to try the New mavic Zero tension setup??? Full carbon wheel Including the spokes, Nice little ring inside that essentially connects the spokes from side to side in the hub?? Our Rep took two spokes out of a fron at random, told me to go ride it. Crazy, wheel rode perfectly straight and smooth. Might be a new way to go with hi performance wheels

I've seen them but have yet to try them. Don't the wheels use a single spoke from one side of the rim to the other(one spoke represents two on a regular wheel)?

I haven't seen those in person yet, those are the new Carbone Ultimates or something, right? I've got a couple of sets of the new R-Sys wheels, basically the new Ksyrium with the hollow carbon spokes (except the drive side, those are the Mavic alloy ones).
Pretty damn stiff wheels, not the most aero, but accelerate really quickly and are super responsive.

I have a set of the 7850 Dura Ace tubeless wheels, not the carbons, but haven't had a chance to ride those yet, lent them to a buddy to try out.

Coworker just got a set of Lightweights today, those are super hot. I'd really like to give those a spin. Pretty similar to the new Mavics, I think they worked with Lightweight on the development of them.

Usually for a more supple feel and comfortable ride.

You tubeless road people - don't you get the same efficiency at 90psi as the tubed people at 120 psi? but because you're running lower pressure, the ride is smoother?

This was my impression. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes the Ultimates, when you get a chance, get your Tubeless back. Youll like them

Alright, I may be starting to change my mind on wheels. I was riding today and got to thinking about it, I ride alone a fair amount and I think a more aerodynamic wheel maybe better for me. I was browsing ebay and checking the Zipp 404 wheels, but even used they go for a lot. Has anyone tried these Planet X wheels?
http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/14674-365_PLAPC5-3-Parts-75-Wheelsets/Planet-X-Pro-Carbon-50-Wheelset.htm

They are aero and cheap.....granted they don't have the dimples that improve aerodynamics.

my friend has a pair of lightly used Dura-Ace SL wheels and I can snag em for $400. I think I'm going to do that. After I get some time on them I'll give my thoughts

I road my Dura Ace SL wheels today and all I have to say is WOW! They are stiff and super smooth! The engagement feels instantaneous. We'll see how they hold up over the long term, but I like em so far.
