Why can these tracks exist and meet the needs of these different riders? Because the tracks are not 2 week wonders that are built then torn down all within the alloted 14 day period. I think that one of the primary factors in this issue is the temporary nature of the majority of courses. Look at the venues where the courses are good. Whistler, Snowmass, WV, Sand Hill ....all permanent MtX tracks. The temporary stuff (excepting Glee-Otter) has been rubbish. I know there is a long relationship with places like Durango and Mt. Snow and a ton of racing history has been played out there, but IMO if the resorts wont sign on to a permanent MtX track as a part of a Mt. Bike park we need to find other resorts that will.

I don't pretend to have the answer, but I felt that my observations were valid.
That isn't exactly right. If you look at the indoor supercross and freestyle shows, those courses are built in 2 days sometimes less! But there is a crew that is trained to build these courses. There is a plan that is followed to the T and they bring their own dirt. The same goes for Monster truck events. They come in, they put together the course on Thursday and the trucks are on it by saturday.

Heikki- I can see that, HB was hanging out before the qualifier drinking beer. I realize it is a bike race and beer is acceptable, but you know what! This is a job you are in charge of, the image of you sitting there with a glass of beer BEFORE any of the race starts is not good, then you choose to hose the spectators down....

Ok I am done complaining, positive thinking from now on.

Yeah, but you or I can't enter an indoor Supercross, Freestyle Moto comp, or Monster Truck show. Those are pro or nearly pro-only events with tons of $$ from sponsors and from the venues the events are held in to pay for dirt and course construction. The outdoor Nat's however are open to all comers and they have classes from Novice to Pro.

Well, I didn't see anyone carrying around a breathalyzer so I don't think that can be substantiated. Let's not go tossing accusations around that could damage somones character.
Yeah, make judgments of character based on his crappy course design, not on his alleged drunkenness.
I've never seen anyone drunk at a mtb race.....

You make a good point, but what we lack in money we may make up in passion. Considering how small the MTB racing community is you would think that communication would be better.
You would think that Norba would have polls on their site or even get feedback from teams in Vegas.

No matter how good or bad the event is you will hear people complain. That is a given, but when everyone has something to say, that is when you know there is a problem.

MTN-X CAN be successfull, it is in europe.
