Hey folks,

If you can spare a few hours, we could use some help this Tuesday 11/10 in the Duthie clearing. King County Parks is bringing in a big wood chipper and we're going to chip up those big piles of alder branches. Starting at 10am and running until dark. Stop by whenever you can. Whatever we don't get to on Tues, we'll tackle on Thurs.

Thanks,
Mike

I thought all wood chippers came standard with built-in beer bongs. Kinda like the beer helmet/face guard you get when you buy a chain saw. At least that's how it worked in Wisconsin....

The entrance into the park is getting really bad. Are these wood chips for that? If not, perhaps you should shred some more wood from the parking lot to the wood bridge.

Wood chips aren't good for actual trail tread. They just soak up water and become a sponge.

King County is giving us tons o' crushed rock to attack that path from the parking lot down to the boardwalk. Kevin will be kicking off that effort with a work party on Wed.

We'll shovel off that muck layer, fling it as far away as we can, haul in crushed rock, and tamp it down creating a raised crown for water to shed off the sides.

After Wed, I'd like to figure out a way to stash some tools so anybody who wants to help can show up any time, grab a wheelbarrow, shovel and McLeod and go to town.

Until then, if anybody wants to throw a wheelbarrow and shovel in their pickup along with their bike... have at it. The crushed rock pile is by the barn... just follow the paved road a little further south. Next week we should have a new 10-yard pile dumped up by the parking area.
