Not really. If they're designed and tempered right they shouldn't be flexing a bit, at least nowhere in the same order of magnitude as a rotating/sliding interface. Sometimes they do though in a poor/weak design. Other times from fatigue.
Ouch, my brain. Just stop. Please. I can't take all this stupid in one post. At least spread it out over 4 or 5.

Seriously folks, it's not even worth getting into link or pivot geometry as dude's fundamentals are so far wrong, it's like arguing baseball stats with a guy who thinks you hit the ball back and forth over a net.

...if two trains leave Chicago at 10:00am and ONE train is made from tempered aluminum which has been machined from billet stock, aged in the basement of a one-legged swedish cheese maker, and the OTHER is made from cast aluminum poured into a$$-crack of Rosanne Barr, which one will reach Narnia first...?

Discuss.

They aren't related. Chuck gave manly birth to dave as a way to spread his wisdom, but Dave designed chuck as the ultimate force of good.

Clearly a "what came first the chuck or the dave" problem for the ages.

Random Fact about Dave Weagle

a "not so widely known" fact about Dave Weagle is that he recently licensed the DW-link to the city of Los Angeles to earthquake-proof all the major historical landmark buildings in downtown LA, such as the City Hall. The patent license was later returned for a refund due to worn bearings in the structure after LA council's annual dance party.

i have not looked at the thread but it looks like this frame is going to have a lot of flex, mainly where the bearings are considering they appear to be within a 8in DIA circle.

I have looked at this thread but not the frame and I'm pretty sure it will be the stiffest frame ever made and wont even need a beer opener like Santa Cruz bikes because it will just fax beer to your mouth via wireless radio signals run on sentences ftw!

I have not looked at the operators manual that came with my box of fragmentation grenades, but it looks like these things won't do sh!t considering how small they are.

I mean look - I'm gonna pull the pin on this one here... see...? all it does is just make this "hisssss"-ing noise and give off a little bit of sm

Over your shoulder whispering
the tags on this thread are pretty informative.

So, has anybody created a hypothetical rider and mapped them on the frame built up with OEM spec parts to see how it rides in a mock up, theorotically designed technical pedaling environment (big word, long word, paraphrase, chucknorrisification, gibberish, love, weagleboner, metaphor, extrapolation...and so on)

As an engineer. Not smart enough apparently.
AHAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry, but what have you done lately? Where are your credentials to bag on someone who pursues his interests with the success that DW has? I don't think "Problem Management Specialist" at Nokia really entitles you to make judgments on who is and isn't smart or successful in their career. :bonk:

My lips are far removed from anyone's ass but the jealousy and sour grapes oozing from your post are pretty funny.

Both of those Turners are SICK!

I'd like to ride both and get an idea how each differs.

It could be like my old 303 vs. my M6.
Both ride equally as well just in different ways.
The 303 has ride characteristics that the M6 doesn't have and vice versa.
Both are equally as good just in different ways and in different parts of the trail. :cupidarrow:

What have I got to be jealous about ? I was just trying to bring a bit of reality to people who are acting like Dave Weagle is a Richard Feynman or something.

Anyway the new bike looks pretty good which is a shame as I wouldn't go near a bushed pivot bike.

What is this heresy you speak of?? The DW is infalliable!!

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked yet. Bet's on how much further it will get??

I like how one of the tags reads sam hill = turner.....a hint perhaps?

No, you weren't trying to "bring a bit of reality" since your comments had exactly nothing to do with the subject at hand.

You were simply trying to bag on an educated guy who has spent a lot of time on these boards contributing positively. What, precisely, does being or not being involved in F1 have to do with designing a downhill frame? Nothing. Not a thing. So the point of the comment was only to make disparaging remarks that had nothing to do with the subject matter. :clapping:

I think it´ll be awesome. It looks ok.

I will however return to a classic single pivot sled, to complete the circle and journey through the world of links. It´s been very entertaining.
I have become what I feared; a person who don´t want to spent time on maintenence and just "ride". Cheezus, that´s boring.

D**n, I don´t even wash my bike anymore. I just let it dry out and use a broom to brush it off.

Well the subject matter had turned from the new Turner bike into a Dave Weagle love-in. So I think I was maybe trying to bring the subject back on track in a roundabout way.

Either way I don't really care so think what you like.
