I just finished installing a DRS on my 2005 Enduro frame and I wanted to make sure they way I set it up is acceptable since I needed to modify it slightly to make it fit around the chainstay. I had to dremel a notch (about 5mm) of the inner slider as pictured and I also needed to elongate the three ISCG mounting holes in order to rotate the backplate a few degrees additionally. I tried to only rotate the backplate as much as was absolutely needed to provide enough clearance so that the chain wouldn't be constantly rubbing on the bottom of the chainstay. As you can see in the pics I only needed to elongate the holes a few mm's as well. I hope this will work well because there isn't much else I can think of to do with the space limitations on this frame...

thanks for any advice! :D

I think it'll work fine but i wouldn't want it to touch my stay on that bike cause it might rub some. Well at least wouldn't want it to touch till you scratch it then i wouldn't give a ****. Looks nice.

I just encountered the same problem with my big hit but slightly different. I am using the e.type bracket, so when i have the derailer mountned the screw holes dont line up wiht the ISCG. So its held on by the BB and the derailer bracket that comes off the boomerang. I spoke with a guy on the forum from e.13 and he says that they are actually getting ride of the ISCG mounting, at least in my instance on future models. Maybe its the FSR suspension? Oh well doesnt matter i've had mine set up for a few rides, and i love it, it was a great purchase. I actually just made a magnesum guide piece to replace the plastic one that broke because of my stupidity, so basically right now, this whole unit is indestructable.

I dremeled the inner slider plate so that there is about 1mm of clearance between it and the stay. I know the chain will slap the bottom of the stay no matter what but that's a small price to pay I guess...

I should have the bike built within a week. Deemax are in the mail and my Firefly is too. Don't know about the 36 though, still haven't got a solid date from Fox. :(

Gianni, I think it's the offset chainstay that Specialized uses that causes problems because it hangs down so low compared to most other bikes.

That might be really handy, I'll let you know if I need one! :)

Sean, did you get the rest of the parts yet?
No, I just heard from someone else that the e.13 guides need modification to fit these bikes so I figured I'd mess with that so that once the rest of the parts come in I can slap it together and finally go for a stinkin' ride!!!!

The last two parts are en route via UPS as we speak so hopefully soon... :nopity:

Notice the seat collar in the full pic above :D

Hi Sean,

The mod that you made should be OK.

Actually, the new DRS guides ship without the ISCG holes in the plate. They are e-type or External BB mount only now. You can use yours without the ISCG bolts, and mount it by clamping the back plate with the BB. That way you can get the correct rotation and wont need to modify.

Drop Jonas a line at support@e13components.com if you have any more questions and he will egt right back to you.

Thanks!

Yeah Sean my chain smacks my bighits chainstay a tiny bit but i have wedged inbetween the guide and the chainstay a tube (wrapped my whole stay and went under the guides area and it doesn't slap at all now so you might wanna do something like that.

So why is that? Because of the '05 standard and uncertainty over compatibility, or is there some other objection to ISCG?

For several reasons:

1) The ISCG bolts can interfere with the granny bolts on SOME cranks, on SOME bikes, with SOME bb widths (particularly 113's) .

2) The original ISCG standard is so poorly defined that it is basically a roll of the dice whether the tabs are in the right place or even usable on most frames.

Basically, it has proven to be a logistical nightmare to try to stay on top of what works and doesn't work for each frame and BB configuration, especially given the wide variaation of crank types available now. We can provide better customer support, and the product works just as well if not better without using the ISCG tabs. We may introduce an ISCG05 version next year though.

Dave, thanks for the reply!

I though about just rotating it down until it cleared and not using the ISCG holes but then the roller would have been prone to getting smacked hard on most every log or rock. I'm glad that most likely this setup will work fine.

I'd think that three elongated and chamfered holes that would allow for good rotation of the backplate would be ideal since most manufacturers are having issues with the rotation (angle) of the mounts not the actual bolt-circle-diameter. The LRP I'd been using for the past 3+ years worked okay but it would rotate on impacts even with the set screws and the BB cup wedging it in place.

I did have to chamfer the ISCG mounting holes a little more to get clearance for the granny bolts but now I think it's going to work great. :)

thanks again....
