E-Bike killed it! Half the time

So figured I'd run the kenevo to see it's time against my bike time...

Half the time and I didn't raise my heart rate high or try and crush it...

It's fun but I still prefer the bike for jibbing and grind...I like the loose feeling I get on my bikes more but it is fun to go rip this thing...

Pros and cons of both o did hammer the lines and rocks on the kenevo to see how it feels...needs to be dialed in.....but weight of bike kept it planted...rebound (high) needs more it bucked off a bigger kicker

An average speed of 16 on an “analog” bike for a trail ride is pretty insane, it’s into xc pro ave speed.

Yeah my fastest on normal bike is nomad 37lbs and I do 10.2mph

If I had a 30lb or less climber I could run 13-14mph or better pretty easily...the weight gets me as does 63 ha, soft tires...

I have legs and lungs...just prefer to ride heavy ass dh Enduro freeride bikes...

The ebike I held 16...without trying hard...
Was fun but leaves me kind of wanting to jib and it's not jib friendly...it is send friendly due to speed

I'd say that's pretty freakin sweet.

The thing about the eebs is, you could probably pull another lap. Try doing that on your regular bike. For me it would be wings and beer thirty after that. But the eeb? I find that we bros just cool for a bit, then go again.

Fun thing I find is they can corner differently, due to their weight. It's just a bit different. I also like how they feel more "planted" in the rough - due to their weight I assume.

Go do another lap and let us know how is goes :D

Normally I'd give you crap for buying a SpecialEd. But I'm on a Trek. So yeah. HA

Got it on trade with range and some forks for my V10..

Was holding out of I were to jump on a E-Bike it would have been slash+...but this popped up new..

I hammered the shit out of it in rocks to see and it is definitely weight biased and minimal deflection...corners are a bit weird I need to figure the placement of body and shift. Not like MX either...
It motors through rough stuff really well..smashed the crap out of the pedals and cranks today.. bike will still kick lol even at this weight

What I did notice is it's different with pedal timing and going over hips and jumps or quick booters..timing is different due to motor engag and kick.
A regular bike you pedal bump it, this if you do that the motor jumps sometimes and others it doesn't am because it was too quick. So it's consistency wasn't there .
Another thing I'll have to get used too..

But overall it was fun, still dig regular bikes better but I was never against E-Bikes , just not my go too..
I'll keep this one dial it in for a bit and see, it does ride good . I'm not a specialized guy either...but I will give em credit, it does ride well .

Steeper the climbs the more an Eeb kills normal bike times. IME
There's a local enderpo spot to me with a 1000FT ish climb which accesses multiple descents. climbing in boost 4 Laps can be done in less than an hour.. I think it's about 2.5 miles per lap. But 4 laps would rake almost 3hrs on a normal bike dye to the steepness and muddiness if the top portion of the climb making it feel like a super human feat to clean on a normal bike. Do everyone just pushes it. (I've only ever done it clean once on a normal bike (but that was way back befire it got the traffic it does now and it was in fairly dry conditions.

I recently got sucked into the ebike world. I was going to wait until I hit 60, but crossed over when one of my buddies was leaving Trek and before leaving hooked me up with a Fuel EXe-8 at 58 years old back in May. The bike was a blast to ride, with more of a trail bike feel. Problems arose when most of my riding group started going full blown ebikes and found it more difficult to hang with them due to the lack of power and battery size. Evil was having their black Friday sale offering 35% off on their Epocalypse, so I jumped on it. Other than riding my DH bike, I don't ever see me going back to a non-ebike. Too much fun and can cover lots of terrain while still maintaining a good consistent heartrate. Now I can roll out my garage do a quick 10 mile loop in an hour which used to take a over 2 hours. Good times!

Yeah the down side of Boulder loop is 52 tooth and all you can do to keep from spinning out or wheeling and rip over . Guys crash going down it, got brakes lightly and it swings out fast.

I've made it 5 of 9 times on nomad and I think that's where all my calories and hear rate is lol.

The ebike struggled on it even when I dropped to big gear...it was lugging hard trying to spin pull wheelies and come out.. leaned over bars and put ass over rear, saddle to belly button.

Now when I ride that section on my bike I will be really bummed out...lmao .

I like it but still prefer to huck a bike over E-Bike, drops, jumps, back woods roots, rock piles and jib...

I'll keep it I built it up today...got schwalbe radials. Rfx38, ttx22m, galfer rotors, one up pedals and deity saddle...it's fun....buying wife one now for our coastal trips up north in redwoods and big sur, San Luis Obispo....

Ohlins shock and link will be here for the range first week of January, it's getting dh38 dual up front and keeping dropper as well as 12 speed drivetrain

E-bikes are fun, but yeah, there's some technique differences. In low traction situations it can be helpful to feather the rear brake to avoid spinning out. And yes, depending on the motor you need to keep pedaling to keep the assist on - again, a little brake can help.

I just consider it one option among many in the quiver, depending on what I want to do. I don’t think it will replace my other bikes.
This. Also the e-bike is great to get DH laps in on recovery days...beats the hell out of spinning on the road or not riding because your legs are shot.

Looks almost like a regular bike. And it's quiet. But only like 350watt or something like that. The TQ motor.
That's why I was looking at heckler and slash +..mainly slash plus as it's assist and high pivot Bosch motor...

I like that, just sold the wife's Bronson this morning buying her the 951 trail...she doesn't jib manual or do really cool shit...so she just wants to go backwoods with a pack and zoom around...

rode a friends focus jam ebike 3 days ago. Really well sorted to the point i was very suprised how well it handled. I liked it better than his fancy crestline ebike.
But equally impressive was pumping bulk runs on a good bike.
Unfortunately now i want one.

Yeah I just need to sort out my outings...i lift, HIIT and run everyday when training...so time is limited then I sneak a hard grind ride in (2 times a week if lucky) and it's the highlight....

This is fun I'll sit it off to side I have las Vegas HYROX coming Feb 1st then Atlanta and Texas before Chicago in June...the ebike won't do shit for my training...it's awesome just bad timing...

BUT!!!!!! I did figure out drop it down one level and it makes for an awesome zone 2 for a hour or 2
..so I can justify it for baseline foundation training...so may incorporate it into my plan...

Gravel e-bike, so that people can stay obese.
I have a lightweight gravel Ebike. 95% of the time It's ridden above the 15mph UK assistance speed. Ie. Only actually using the motor on a few climbs per ride and pretty much always used in eco. (which just adds 100w of assistance) used this, way range for the tiny 250wh battery is pretty huge.
Gravel riding is shite anyway. So I used it mainly on road with 47mm gravelking slicks.. It's main benefit was that it allowed me to chill on the last hill to my house. Sort of as a, cool down so as not to arrive home sweaty AF. .
Haven't used it in months so I might just sell it come springtime. Haven't decided yet.

Double dicked It today..went 1 full and one half to see Battery life...got to half...
It will be a good zone 2 training ,that was partially what today was about...burned more calories , pushed harder and stayed consistent....

1- corners weighted back more like MX
2- flats I have to load corner different
3- doesn't flicka anywhere as easy with whips and drifts ..definitely more learned to MX
4- fun as hell and likes to crush rock piles ..so that's cool...
5- in a nasty line I have to just aim and go, you cant pick up and change easily ...but it makes up for it in weight and bull in a china shop syndrome...

I'm guilty of wanting to rip around and not pedal ...was going to take range out today and do the laps to get a handle on it...but the other bike just said "come mash some rocks and hikers!"...
.
The radials hooked up no rolling issues 32/28 psi...no rim dings no bouncing ...

The ohlins killed it, I need to open up high speed a smidge and back off rebound a smidge it got a bit harsh on the nasty chatter, handles big hits well though...just repetitive high frequency hits ..

My experience with the Levo that superseded that Kinevo:

the stock BB height is too fucking low, even with 165 cranks and the bike in high/neutral. Overfork that sucka ASAP and get the BB to 350mm-ish
it's linear as fuck. I could bottom it easily even with a Cascade link, Storia, and 28% sag.
It also has really low anti-rise, like 50% so you'll likely need more fork LSC than you'd normally run to combat the tendency to pitch forward. At least I did.
the rear end is flexy as hell and ate bearings at the seatstay pivot for breakfast. I could shift the non-drive side bearing on demand with a solid cutty, using green loctite in both the regular link and Cascade. Cascade even warrantied the link for me once with one they calipered to be tighter than normal and it still did it.
the internal routing tubes are too tight for Hayes/Hope brake lines
the motor is nice when it works but mine died in 11 months. My buddy is on his 4th motor on his.

Yeah just got back from running rocks and need to add some low speed, possibly 1 up spring rate back off rebound a smidge...it's either packing deep or hanging up on rocks really bad when monster trucking....which doesn't surprise me that's why I like rearward arch bikes...I'll throw the bike into a rock chute hit one air out and mash rest...

- yes pedal struck a couple times hard already
- buddy riding yt has 8k miles on his and 4 motors
-a buddy on his kenevo is same as that 1k and he needs a motor..bearings spun...
- this has warranty and I will ride the range more than this anywase , I much prefer a bike over E-Bike....but wife wants to do longer runs with picnic and mountains so it will be awesome. (Love wife adventure time)

Yeah I went 180mm on front and mullet to slacken it...but it does pitch forward a bit even at that and weighting corners on front end I find I have to push it down and roll to a manual style corner...

I can't really get rid of it since we bought the wife one...I'll buy her another Bronson new and then we have options....I literally prefer a bike.....hands down...this is novelty to me at best..fun but not something I love...

Had a slower run today over all but hikers everywhere..had to tell a few to GTFOOTW!!!

Got snippy with me so I informed their fat asses that I run those hills 18-20 miles a week for a long time and ride a regular bike on them...I'm more than familiar with etiquette..

It's almost always the hikers and their bullshit...when I trail run the mountains they do the same shit.

I yell "on your left!"

What they hear "block the whole fucking trail"

Your write up about your dick pick ride map (LMAO, did know one else notice that? HA) is completely on par with all things ebikes. And dick head hikers, to boot. Keep on it. So much fun to be had.

Hikers, you can't do much about. Other MTBer's, I usually just hang back. Grab a swig of H2O. Then repeat until done. We've got some really.... uhhhh "competitive" "jerk store?") riders here that's it's just easier to not pass them. Think techy narrow single track. Even tho you know you can. That's when I know to chill out.

Until it's on the downhill. Then GTFO. And that's when I'm not so friendly :) But trust me, I'm still friendly. It's just bikes.

It doesn't happen very often. But this is the strategy I have been using.

I'm nice for the most part..

I try to be nice but after seeing several do the same shit ..makes me wonder how they survive while sleeping, too stupid to keep breathing .
