yes, e-mail has been sent to e13, i just like posting here for future reference...

so anyway, i'm putting together my bike, and i can't tighten the chainring bolts. looks like the female part might be too long:

i've got the correct setup. the washer that goes underneath the bolt bottoms against the female part, so the bashguard wiggles (all the bolts have this problem). should i just run to Home Depot and get some washer for the other side of the bashguard?

Are the chainring nuts from an older evil / e13 guide? Also are they silver or black? I had a set from an older guide, silver in color, that were too long and needed to be shortened up a bit. I also have a newer guide, and it's chainring nuts are black and fit up fine.

I'd guess between the bashguard and then ring. That way some space can be taken up and the bolts will tighten.

That sure is weird though by looking at the pics. Everything looks like it's ok. DW or John P will chime in :)

I have the exact set-up and wasn't able to get the chainring bolt to torque down either. They aren't wobbling or anything, but seem to be spinning without tightening, probably because of the length of the chainring nuts, as you say. 36T supercharger and 36T Crown here...

I will look into that for sure. It looks like you have everything perfect. The quickest thing to do would be to file down the tops of the chainring nuts by a hair to eliminate the interference. There are no threads for the first 2mm of the chainring nut, so filing it won't hurt it.

I'm sure Jonas will be e-mailing you if he hasn't already from support@e13components.com.

Thanks!

Dave

36/36 here, too.

thanks, dave. i was planning on just doing that, but wanted to hear what you had to say first. is the 2mm non threaded part standard, or just an estimate? it looks more like 3mm on the ones i've got.

I've had the same issue in the past with several Bash and G-ring combos. Mostly it's been on truvativ cranks. I think the spider is slightly thinner than standard on some models from them. I always just ground everything down with no problem.
