Good Morning!!

Just got back from an installation where I believe I left a significant portion of my back sitting on the curb.

We had a squirrel get behind the wire mesh I put around our chimney yesterday afternoon - and found himself all the way down in my wood burning stove in the basement. Of course, since I'm in the South, it's commonly known that proper etiquette dictates using him as part of last nights dinner, but I decided to save him nonetheless.....I built a corridor of blankets to the outside door to channel him into the right direction...opened the door, and it was like a soot bomb came flying out of the stove. I could see his dust trail hanging in the air minutes after he had broke the land speed record across my back yard....

Hey...it's Wing Wednesday, and getting close to lunch...cool.

Possibly.

Honestly, kind of think we needed to. Kitchen was OG from 1987 and is really showed. I'm reasonably confident that if we do sell the house a new kitchen will get us our money back in selling price.
you are moving into the big city of colorado springs....correct?

having never been in the city....what is that like?

nice neighborhoods....house or dwell in a apartment?

We've lived in Colorado Springs for 15 years, or close enough. If we move, it will be to downtown. My old man used to say that if the state of CO gave everything east of I25 to Kansas, both states would be better off. He was wrong about a lot of things, but that wasn't one of them.

The Springs is actually pretty nice, it's a small city that wants to be a "real" city pretty bad. Downtown is nice, Old colorado city/manitou is pretty cool but the hippie/yuppie vibe is pretty thick. North side and cheyenne mountian area are the "new money" parts of town. Think McMansion speck homes/desperate housewives. Broadmoor is where the monocles get polished over tea. South side/fountian/security is all low rank army grunts or Air Force flyboys. Anyone who thinks there is a "bad" part of CS has never been to a real city.

Buying or renting is pretty tricky here. The population has exploded in the last 5 years. Rents are high and vacancies are low. The military presence exacerbates this situation. Buying is just as, if not more difficult. Vacant homes either get snatched up for cash by slum lords looking to rent to a GI, or bidding wars break out for them. House next door to us went for 15 grand over asking 6 months ago, and that has been pretty common for a couple years at least.
