Just when you thought you’d gotten it all figured out, Easton Cycling goes and creates a new handlebar clamp diameter for its Havoc line. Yes, you might’ve guessed by their moniker that these new bars require a 35-millimeter stem in order to be properly attached to a mountain bike.

The company claims that its 31.8-millimeter Havoc Carbon bar was already the strongest and lightest bar on the market. So do we really need another standard? Probably not—but then we didn’t really need better suspension, dropper posts and carbon fiber bikes either.
Riders are continually going bigger and harder, and since all the kids—and even some old Bike magazine editors—are rocking wide bars these days, Easton decided to borrow some design inspiration from its motocross handlebars and engineer a new 800-millimeter bars strong enough to handle the increased stress levels seen at the end of a wide handlebar.
Easton claims that the Havoc 35 Carbon bar is 15-percent stronger in impact testing, 10-times stronger in fatigue testing, 21-percent stiffer and, at 220 grams, 8-percent lighter than its 31.8 millimeter predecessor.

If carbon still isn’t your thing, the Havoc 35 is also available in an aluminum version, and in four colors: orange ano, silver, green ano and black.
To complement the handlebars, Easton is offering an EA90 aluminum 1 1/8-inch stem and a two-piece EA90 aluminum direct-mount clamp.
