it will be 30-40 people

I'll have:

Everyone likes the dip I "make"

Hidden Valley Ranch Dip packet
16oz of sour cream
(package of forzen & chopped spinach and water chestnuts if you want it different, recipe is on the back)
Mix and chill....easy huh?

I usually provide a vegi platter with it.
Baby Carrots (cleaned, ready to eat 'cause I am lazy)
Celery
Broccoli
Radish
Little tomatoes
Red Yellow and Green Peppers
(be carefull this side dish can end up costing you $50 and you will have a lot of left over vegi's :D)

I also buy a Sourdough Bread bowl for the dip.

Cutting up the vegis is the hard part....

Even the meat eaters seam to like the option of a big vegi tray

The ones from the store suck! My simple one rocks....not that I am bias or anything

Maybe make some Jello jigglers? :) Or jello shots depends on what kind of BBQ this is.

Dice up some cucumber, red onion, and tomato.. Add crumbled Feta, olive oil, and lemon juice. Maybe a little oregano too

This time of year its Corn on the Cob (sp) time!

Boil some water, get a couple of pound of salt and butter and your all set!

Oh and a few (read a lot) of beer is usually a good side dish!

SWEET CORN!

Potato salad:
potatoes (4-6 lbs)
mayo (2-3 jars, depends on amount of taters)
diced red onions
small amount of celery (use the leaves only)
liberal amount of dill weed
salt n pepper to taste
a little vinegar
parsley
paprikia on top for asthetics

The secret? Make it 1-2 days ahead of time.

recipe??

ECHO ->yeah, hey TREESAW ! :help:

German potato Salad (perfect for thos Mayo Haters)

Boil some potatos (Red ones work best)

In a pan, fry up 5-6 slices of CUT bacon clices.
About half way through, add 1 large (or 2 small) diced onions.

In a bowl, mix 3-4 tbs brown mustard with a half cup apple cider vinegar.
add in some diced green onions (scallions), and ground pepper.

Cut the potatos into bite sized pieces.
Add everything else and mix. Mash a few pieces of potato too for a better consistancy.

(optional... Top with diced hard boiled eggs)

This goes PERFECT with some grilled Brats!!

Badass potato salad:

Start with a $hitload of bioled (yet not too soft) new potatoes sliced up in quarters.

Add 1/4 of a $hitload of onions (finly chopped & cooked in frying pan)...

Add 1/4 of a $hitload of celary diced

Make sure you make dressing enough to cover and bond together the $hitload and a half of stuff you have up to this point.

Dressing=Mix 1/3 Mayo 2/3 and sour cream.
Add dill to taste, and whole basil leaves so it looks super phatty.
Add salt to taste.

Bam... badass potato salad.

One more great crowd favorite:

Southwest corn "salsa" salad

Dice some Jicama, red pepper, red onion, a tomato, and sweet corn (uncooked).
Add in a can of black beans.
Dice some cilantro.
add a little Garlic powder and the juice of 2 lemon

I've always been a big fan of a little pasta with pesto, served at about room temperature... You can buy the pesto in a packet, a little oil, and some boiled pasta.. Bam, easy, and tasty. Add chicken from the grill if you feel so inclined, and other vegetables if you want to chop them up.

Corn on the cob, definitly. Cook that on the grill along with the meat.

Get those baked beans at the store...I forget the brand...they have a blue and red label...those are good...and get some bullseye original barbeque sause and some brown sugar and some yellow mustard...just start dumpin in the stuff and mixing it...oh and some beer...like a heineken...and don't use too much beer or brown sugar....but just keep tasting it till you get the right combo of all that stuff mixed in...they come out really good and everyone eats em up! :thumb:
