I have a Sony DCR HC-42 digital video camera that uses the mini DV tapes. The quality it records is great untill I make a move in my "free" version of Windows movie maker. So I'm looking to buy a edit program around $100 that will give me a quality final product. It looks like I'll have to buy software to install into the computer.

So the real qustion is what program have people used to get the best quality out of the film when making a movie. A local store carries a few versions of Pinnacle but I don't want to settle for what's in stock.

Any comments would be great.

I heard Pinnacle is very good. Why don't you want what's in stock. It's kind of hard to get stuff when it's out of stock.
