For those keeping score at home, Portland homicides are up 325% over last year. Way to go!
Aw man, you know better than the believe framing in the NYpost about portland. Murdoch has a vested interest in always making portland look bad.

Was the budget cut 20mil or was a planned 20mil increase just turned down? (out of a 240ish million budget)

Those guys are doing the same thing NYPD and Seattle did. They're just throwing a tantrum. Cops are claiming the same kind of rise in gun crimes everywhere, budget cuts or not. It's also hard to tell if they're comparing "rise compared to last year" against lockdown months.

Portland, OR
A cop got busted for beating a peaceful protestor and all the cops on the riot response team quit. Now Portland PD has decided it just can't handle what's happening here.

Besides all the shootings, the other new thing is blatant street racing. We used to race on Swan Island in the industrial area where NOBODY was at 0 dark 30. Not anymore.

They took over the fucking Fremont Bridge.

yeah portland needs more out of town assholes coming into town fucking with people

count the bridges in portland and do a quick percentage of what amount that is of "currently unusable bridges in portland."

I think they actually have more bridges than roads to run across them.

It's such BS. They had millions upon millions of dollars to spend last summer protecting windows. The budget is virtually unchanged. Shooting people is still illegal, they don't need a special task force to enforce laws. They're not dedicating hundreds of people nightly to guard a starbucks anymore, they can go do the other parts of their implied job.

They're CHOOSING to not handle what's happening there. You saw it this past weekend. They deliberately ignored that proud boy bullshit (cept for one or two undercover cops apparently). They're basically striking, throwing a tantrum over the perceived budget reduction. This shit is going on in other cities too. They pick and choose what they want to enforce, always have, always will. It has almost nothing to do with budget.

And god help anyone relying on police unions or the NYpost for data. Or data only comparing stats to last year, one of the most unique in american history.

Every one of the pieces either ignores or only touches on the biggest elephant in the room. Remember last year during the shutdowns and constant talk of relief checks? Everyone knew that economic recovery from 2020 would take years. We're still right in the middle of that.

If memory serves, are not the spit reins long enough to be used as a short whip in the off hand? Haven't been in a horse barn since as a kid when my had her horses.
@eric strt6 to the courtesy phone
yes

which is the point of reins that long

doesn't matter

a bunch of texas ranger larpers are beating black people from horses and our esteemed tax funded 'lr n rder' types are worried about pwning people on twitter as if that justifies it

cops think they're fox news or instagram influencers, not public servants

classy as always

The union leader's acerbic twitter posts have included calling a city councilman a “first class whore”, calling a former health commissioner a “b----”, and in response to the officer involved shooting death of Michael Brown and subsequent protests he said, “Ferguson Missouri was a lie and a nation of police have been under attack ever since.”
