The Congressional Budget Office estimate shows that compared with current spending rates the spending bill due for a House vote Thursday would pare just $352 million from the deficit through Sept. 30. About $8 billion in cuts to domestic programs and foreign aid are offset by nearly equal increases in defense spending.

How do we convince every American to vote for their local Safeway store manger in the next congressional election? We would end up with a better qualified group of congressmen...

I would vote for a jello mold before I'd vote for Doug Lamborn.
Many of his principles and ideals coincide with the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the caucus of House conservatives, of which Representative Lamborn is pleased to be a member. With over 100 House Republicans, the RSC is dedicated to a limited and Constitutional role for the federal government , a strong national defense, the protection of individual and property rights, and the preservation of traditional family values.

Ah, yes, limiting the Fed Gov to its Consititutionally-established role of preserving traditional family values.

Most importantly, it looks like we are going back to WAR so the poor defense companies can afford to keep the electricity on. I was seriously starting to worry there for a few years.

They harp on the use of the Raptors, but the bulk of the cost came from tossing a few dozen tomahawks at 'em. While effective when used correctly, at damn near $2M a pop, it aint cheap. But I guess it's cheaper than putting more boobs on the ground.
Raptors have got to be somewhere near $100,000/hr to operate, considering all the manpower, operating costs, equipment, R&D, etc. I have some knowledge of what it costs to operate a turbine aircraft just to break even as a business, in addition I've heard the operating costs for the F-15 and 16. The Raptor has got to be way up there, plus by using it you are putting hours on it and decreasing it's service life.
