EL Jefe questions

Looking at an El Jefe for a great price. I did a search and found a couple reveiws, mainly found that people either love or hate Statos. Any opions would be much appreciated.

Also does anyone know where to buy springs? I have used moutainspeed in the past, but there web site redirects you to MRP now.

I have one...haven't ridden it much but you can get a spring from Strato's for $70 (TI is $160) Shimming is $75 or you can probably go to a MX shop and get it done.

I've heard good things about the El Jefe. Definitely a bit above past Stratos products. Similar ride to an Avy is the word, but I admit I have never ridden one. There are a few being sold on here that I was considering trying out (I have a 204 as well).

And 70 bucks for a steel spring? That is retarded. Fox springs are like 35.

According tot Strato, not even avalanche springs will fit on the body. They are huge. As for ride, I can't tell the difference between jefe's and avy's. identical feel. build quality is great on the el jefe.

not sure if thats true tho, ChrisRobin was trying to get ahold of one for his ElHefe. I think he used a Romic spring instead. PM him to find out.

Yeah! romic springs seem to be the ticket. As far as the ride I just got an avy and between it and a stratos el jeffe. "spot on identical" feel wise. The el jeffe is a more precision peice than the avy. I bought the avy because I couldn't find any el jeffe or el jeffe sr's for sale when I was in the market. Mike knows his stuff at Stratos, they make a 10+ 2 thumbs up shock. (el jeffe and helix DH pro).
No offense to any Stratos fans I have 2 in my coral and love em, and avy people I bought one and it's on my rig for drops. LOVE IT!
