Washington State has a nice tracking system. My ballot was received and verified within two days. Some friends had theirs rejected for changes in their signature, they were able to have resolved.so apparently my county website has a way i can look up the status of my ballot. received but not yet counted.
Where is my rep button when I need it???Much more palatable this way: https://twitter.com/DarrenEuronews/status/1324298274015236096

Imagine the reaction if she was a male, from the other side of the world, speaking arabic and finishing sentences with "Allahu Akbar"
im picturing her in a leather outfit with a little whip in her hand...Imagine the reaction if she was a male, from the other side of the world, speaking arabic and finishing sentences with "Allahu Akbar"
... and off to the No Context thread it goes!im picturing her in a leather outfit with a little whip in her hand...
That is called Cognitive DissonanceImagine the reaction if she was a male, from the other side of the world, speaking arabic and finishing sentences with "Allahu Akbar"
longshot but yesAm I to understand that the Senate is actually still in play?
Runoffs in Ga?
:does cocaine furiously:Has the Trumpapottamous been going undercover at voting sites in order to ferret out corruption? How did he find out??? All of our carefully laid plans...gone to waste...
"All of the recent Biden claimed States will be legally challenged by us for Voter Fraud and State Election Fraud. Plenty of proof - just check out the Media. WE WILL WIN! America First!"
They came for the wall, but stayed for the bigotry.I contend that whatever the outcome, Racism is the real winner in this election.
Trump lead in Georgia dips to less than 14,000 with 50,000 votes to be countedif both GA seats end up breaking blue, and Biden/Harris win, congress would be tied with Harris as the tiebreaker.
This is... gold. They came for the wall, but stayed for the bigotry.
I think @jonKranked and I have both opined on this, or something pretty similar....thinking about the trash talk and branding issue.
To be honest, it's not that easy right now to not conflate being a scumbag and being a Republican, or at least the type of Republican that they've been becoming for the last 20-30 years. And with Trump at their helm, it seems many of the actual Republican politicians (and their constituency) have really let their scumbag flag fly high and proud, or at the very least via silence/complicity.So trump is both a scumbag and a republican. Trashing him for being a scumbag can get conflated with trashing him for being a republican. The people doing the trash talk probably have both an anti scumbag and anti republican agenda, so the issue separation isn’t clear.
As @stoney has said, they all think we're atheist baby-killing gun-takers. So you know... we're scum. The problem with this is that it opens the door for the republicans to respond in kind, using a transitive policy/scumbag approach. When a trump supporter hears someone call trump a scumbag, then they fire back with “I know you are but what am I?” This idea that the democrat calling trump a scumbag is also a scumbag will get conflated with democratic policy.
Oh man, if only there was some way of enforcing this.I really think that trump is such a scumbag that the policy shouldn’t even enter into the discussion. A candidate should be able to get over the scumbag bar to even be in the running.
@jonKranked followup to the above:Edit to add: the problem I am grappling with is that right now I pretty much mentally equate "support of Trump" to "this person is a fucking racist/bigot/misogynist/etc." or at least complicit in those things. Because how the FUCK could a person morally green-light support of a person who is clearly all of those things? What political issue is SO FUCKING IMPORTANT TO YOU that you'll turn a blind eye to a bunch of morally fucking wrong shit?
as i stated in pawn, this is probably the most disappointing aspect of all this.
No we can't. ShitgibbonCan we at least agree that "Trumppopotamus" is the best derogatory term? We should just go with that...
Looks like Trump's up in PA now: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/results-pennsylvania.html?action=click&module=ELEX_results&pgtype=Interactive®ion=HomepageLinkbiden has increased his lead in nevada by about 3-4k, and the gap is narrowing in PA, down to 113K
Uhhh... JKs post indicated the gap was 113k and now it's ~108k per the link you just sent... so Trump is still losing ground. Trump has been leading in PA for a while, but losing ground steadily. I think this is more of that?
Hopefully a Waning Shitgibbon.No we can't. Shitgibbon
An almost verbatim text I sent to @jonKranked earlier:He's trying to make counting a partisan issue.
"Surprise!" - no one.apparently georgia has more uncounted ballots than previously reported:
Maybe I’m only seeing it this way because of my bubble, but I’ve noticed that any time someone comments on how voting choices shouldn’t impact friendships, it is always a trump/republican voter saying it aimed at democratic/liberal people. I don’t seem to see that comment going the opposite direction, from left to right. It’s become some sort of underhanded jab, where the right will take some fake moral higher-ground position.
Because of where I live, a lot of my neighbors and friends tend to lean conservative, or have past military careers. Many a "spirited" debate has taken place either at my dining room table or in my kitchen regarding politics. All these people remain friends. That is solely because of the fact, that no matter how much we disagree on many, many, subjects, they are still loved and cherished in this house. I appreciate an opposing view, and no matter if they are wrong, and they are, they have proven over time to be good and true people who look beyond our difference and equally value us as people and friends too.Yeah. At first I thought I should be bigger than to let my politics interfere with friendships, but I’m finding that harder to do.
One way I’m seeing it now is that I have a large group of close friends in the LGBT community. If I have a friend who votes trump, that’s functionally a threat to the way of life of my LGBT friends.
I can excuse folks who vote republican for fiscal and military issues, or foreign policy reasons. I can tolerate the idea that they are anti abortion because of their beliefs. But the voting for Trump, particularly when they do it like cheering for a sports team, and trash talking the “opposition” is too much.
But how do you really feel?An almost verbatim text I sent to @jonKranked earlier:
Tell you what concerns me, saw a Trump supporter driving down 8th street clearly not taking it well. Hand written crazy shit all over his truck. Without the Trump context a fella would have just assumed they were seeing someone have a schizophrenic break. The only ones I caught for sure were "stop the count trump won" and "biden sniffs kids". There was also III% sticker and a Q sticker. Lots of other writings but that was all I could make out as he went by. I suspect this guy is an outlier only so much as he's the first one I've seen.

No Trump supporter will ever step foot in my house. No more than anyone wearing a swastika armband or wearing a klan hood would cross my threshold. The differences I have with the people mentioned above are, as P.J. O'Rourke said about Hillary WAY back in 2016, and I paraphrase, "are within the realm of correctable error.". But Trumpism? That is a bridge too far. Don't feel bad about cutting those people from your life. Feel good about it. Ask yourself, how welcome is Nazi wheel chair guy in your house? Apply the same rule to anyone willing to admit to being a trump supporter. There is no difference.
None.
