Earth Liberation Front News
Domestic Terror Investigation
By Leslie Knopp -KOMO

SAMMAMISH WA- Two homes still under construction appear to have been targeted in a possible case of domestic terrorism. Early Wednesday morning there was a fire in the garage of a house on Inglewood at 211th Ave. The fire broke out at about 5:00 a.m. Firefighters were able to put the flames out before they spread to the new house. Investigators were calling the fire suspicious. A short time later police found an explosive device in a new house on Inglewood and West Lake Sammamish. Someone draped a cloth sheet over the front yard of the house with a cryptic message that read in part: "trees, burning, rapist." The message was signed ELF, also known as the Earth Liberation Front. Police often call them an environmental terror group. Police went in the back sliding door of the house and smelled a strong odor of gas. They also found what they thought was some sort of incindiary or explosive device inside the home. That device did not go off so police spent the afternoon removing it safely.
Also know for a mega burn job in CO....

How does burning houses down save the environment? THey will use mroe wood to repair the house.

What the hell are people thinking of when they do this?

Apperantly people do stuff claiming to be ELF....the article about the lumber yard arson.

Because the ELF structure is non-hierarchical, there is no centralized organization or leadership. There is also no "membership" in the Earth Liberation Front. In the past, as you can see in the News Archives individuals have committed arson and other illegal acts under the ELF name. Individuals who choose to do actions under the banner of E.L.F. do so only driven by their personal conscience. These have been individual choices, and are not endorsed, encouraged, or approved of by the management and participants of this web site.
Way to not take responsibility on both sides.

What bugs me most is the annonymous nature of it. No official organization but they can claim they are being blaimed for something they didn't do? If you have such a organization that there are no level of control you are inviting dip wads to act out in your name....if there even is such a thing as ELF (Green Peace, etc).

I say they are part of the same organization....because there are no controls or monitoring. GP gets away with it saying they are acting on their own behalf if they get caught. but doesn't organizing and maybe even "funding" such actions make them liable aslo?

I guess if I didn't want to own up to what I was doing I would create an annonymous organization through wich I could carry out my illegal operations.

Who? Me? No wasn't me....someone that are claiming to be me....we don't know them.

But they do bring alot on enviormental concerns into the mainstream media.
Yes they do, but in doing so their actions pollute the environment which is a self contradictory action. If they really cared about the enironment would they have done actions to get their point across that even in a small way destroyed/damaged the environment? I cannot respect the message from an organization that is fundamentally unholistic between its philosophy and actions.

So does the end justify the means? Is it ok to destroy a little of the environment in order to get bigger changes? If as environemtnalist all of creation/nature (whatever you want to call it) is precious, then why is it ok to damage even a small part of it?

What did they bring to light?

"trees, burning, rapist" was their messege and they made enemies not proponents.

They hung themselves all the while they are patting each other on their backs. If anything I they come off as psychotic kooks, not rational activists.

I would put them in prison and tatoo child rapist on their lower back. :D

What they do is undermine legitimate efforts to improve environmental policy by hogging the headlines with moronic acts. Burning Hummers and ski areas is vandalism, not activism, and only polarizes people away from supporting genuine environmental efforts.

:stupid:

Bingo. Given the broad strokes of politics, these idiots undermine legitimate efforts for better environmental quality.

Sounds alot like the Critical Mass riders here in NYC...
Funny you should mention that. There was a critical mess ride on Friday at rush hour in San Francisco a few summers ago. Huge snarl. Two days later I was at a big century ride, and there were folks sporting t-shirts with the message "I am not a critical mass-hole." A little crude for my taste, but I agreed with the sentiment.

There's a lot of wisdom in that old saying "moderation in all things". Every good idea or cause can be screwed up by zealots and extremists.

They remind me of Critical Mass. Another bunch of self-important, hypocritical, counter-productive jackasses.

(that ought to get this thread rolling....)
