Eliminate side play, how? (Lapierre oem 20mm hub)

Hi all,

I bought a used set of wheels, and discovered to my horror that the front hub shows some play. Not too much, but enough to allow the wheel to move a few mm sideways when installed, which will (at least) mean I'll have to set a bigger brake pad distance.

The black side spacers seem to be responsible for most of this play; when pushed sideways, you can hear a subtle "click" and see they move very slightly out of place. With the wheel tightened, the play is reduced but still there. The fork is brand new late 90's model, so I doubt it has nothing to do with this issue.

So while I talk to the vendor, I'd like to ask if you know how to service this hub, and if the play can be removed. It's an OEM lapierre 20mm hub laced to a mavic en321 rim (seems it was the stock wheel on 2009 lapierre's spicy 316).
I don't know if it uses bearings or bushings (which would make things much more complicated).

So, any thoughts on how to open it? I don't see any threading or circlip, so I'm wondering if the spacers will just pop under some pressure.
Have fun!:thumb:

Racebike, so should new bearings eliminate the side play?

I'd say the parts are pressed in place, since I see no threads, circlips or visible seams, but I still don't know where to begin to open it. Somewhere I read about using the axle on the spacers to pop them out, is this right?
If you have some pics, it would be a tremendous help.
