Do i have a problem

I got an Ellsworth Dare from 2002. After a serious time riding in France i noticed i got a small crack in my chainstay at the chainside. Does anybody know how to get Ellsworth to send me a new part coz emailing several times doesnt bring anything to me.
Or if anybody got similar things with Ellsworth let me know please.

Ellsworth(less) no longer deals directly with their customers. You have to go through a shop. Be prepared to break out your wallet...

How does a company with this reputation keep its "lusty" status?
Maybe it's more like Paris Hilton status...inspires lust in some, revulsion in others, and definitely has issues.

Seems that in TN they are all the rage right now, mostly I think because one of the owners lives here, but I just dont get all the hype. They are a pretty simple looking bike, and all Ive ever heard about is cracking problems and tons of pics of said cracks. And then on top of that, bad C.S.
Wierd how trends work, I guess.

Go through an Ells dealer. Assuming that you are the original owner you will be taken care of.:thumb:

I do love all this speculation about Ellsworth . As if other frames don't break over time.

I dont think anyone's saying that. What Im saying is, well, just look at their reputation in this thread alone.
How do you think it got that way? It sure didnt happen by them making great bikes and standing by their products with good customer service and a freindly smile...

I agree that they have made some blunders, but their warranty and CS depts. have made big strides in correcting past mistakes.

Strides so big that they cant return an email to a customer who, no doubt, spent some serious cash on a frame...

Yeah, that's some great service.

From what i can dimly recall, email was never a priority with Tony, which then, of course, trickles down into corporate policy.

But that's just my booze-fogged memory, messing around with me...

I owned 4 of them. I broke 4 of them. I am a slow learner. Actually they ride pretty nice right up to the point when they break. Then comes the fun part of owning an Ellsworth.

The lack of returned emails is weak, but don't expect a free replacement. The frame is 4 years old. I don't know many companies that will warrantee something of that age.

Tony ellsworth is a blight to the cycling industry. Just ask Sherwood at Ventana.
True Scum, business practice wise.

I also heard he was some sort of a mormon, not that there is anything wrong with that. intrinsically.

speaking of warranties...

talked to a guy at the shop today who has broken 3 Giants. the same frame, warrantied over and over. this last time, Giant told him that if he breaks it again, they won't warranty it. ouch.

the sweet little Bianchi road bike i built up a while ago has had the bars warrantied 3 times, also. Speccy is threatening not to warranty it again. warranties are tres shady.

haa haa haa.... back in the early 90's (yeah, I'm old), I kept breaking kliens.... they told me they weren't going to warranty the 4th bike.

I used it for urban / trials.

Looks more like impact to me what with the dents to the rear of the crack.

I guess it must be my wimp riding that keeps my '01 Joker thumping along over rocks and logs year after year...
That's the chainstay part of the swingarm....the dents are just chain slap....if you impacted there, you'd need a pretty nifty curved hammer to do it while your cranks were on....
