So my Fox Float on my '03 Spec. Enduro is way past the point of needing to be serviced. What I can't decide is whether I should send the shock into Push and get the rebuild with propedal option or get a Romic coil shock. Anybody have any experience with either of these options? Also I get so tired of having to replace the shock's bushing and spacers every six months, is there any way to improve the bushing or keep it from wearing out so fast.

I have used Romic shocks with great results...as far as replacing the bushings...you may have something mis-aligned...I have never heard of someone replacing them so frequently...D

Do the Romic, and get a Ti spring. It's worth the money. And, if you don't have a coil fork, change that too while you're at it. Pick up something like a Z1 FR or a Vanilla. It'll ride like another bike. I have an Enduro Pro w/ a Z1 QR20 and a Romic Twin D and Ti spring. It's my trail bike and I LOVE it!
As for you blowing thru the DU bearings, check the dish of your rear wheel and you can use it to eye-ball your rear triangle. If you've crashed hard on this frame, it might be out of alignment. Another thing is if you ride in a lot of mud, and I mean A LOT of mud, then it could be that. There's a little trick for that which may extend the life of your DUs. Goto the hardware store and get yourself some O rings (might need to take your shock and spacers w/ you). Put them on where the shock meets the mounting spacers (there's typically a small groove there). It'll create just enough of a seal to repel some of the muck. Get 'em tight, put the O rings on the spacers when mounting, then slide into place once shock is mounted. A dab of grease under the O ring will also help. And don't use a jet wash there.

Yeah I have a Z1 FR on the front and its great, I just need the rear to work as good as the front now. I'm leaning more toward the Push idea because its cheaper but I think in the long run a coil might be the better way to go.

Thanks for the idea about the O rings that sounds like it should work pretty well. I check the dish of the rear wheel pretty frequently and can't see any frame misalignment. I did a search and found a company BETD that makes some stainless steel bushings that look like they might be pretty burly, only problem is company is in England so cost is pretty high.

What are the specs/dimensions for a Romic which fits an 03' Enduro? What is the estimated travel with this shock? I have a Sherman Firefly up front and I'm looking for some Ti spring goodness for the rear.

I'm on a '04 Enduro Pro, no change from the '03. You'll need a 7.5x2.0 shock body. Send it into Romic and have them put a spacer in to get it to 7.65 (I think that's the i2i length), $70.00. Spring is relative to several factors. I'm 180 and I should be on a 600#. But when I bought the shock, it came w/a 450# Ti RSC (or is it RCS?) and I've been using that w/ no ill effects. I also have the original 600# steel spring which I think I'll try this season. This is my trail bike and I don't huck it. Plus, my ride style is pretty smooth which might be why I haven't notice too much of the undersprung rear.
As for the fork, I need to change the oil in my Z1 FR from the stock 7.5 to 10 wt to get more adjustment range out of the compression and rebound. But I think matched against the undersprung rear, that Z1 is very right on w/ the 7.5 wt and how it's moving.

You can also use a 7.875x2 shock wich will raise the bb height and give it around 6" of travel. It will also steepen the head angle but if you use a taller shock like an 05 fox vanilla or marzocchi z1 then it will compensate for it. I used a 7.875x2.3 vanilla r on my enduro w/ a 03 z1 and 05 rlc and loved it except it was heavy. I am now running a 5th air to lighten it up. I would like to try a propedal or pushed vanilla r w/ a ti spring next. Also Specialized makes an upgraded lower shock bushing the one in the linkage that is a steel tube that makes it stronger.
