virtually 1 in 4 of the fsr's did that in the olden days and near to now whether it an XC bike or DJ,
they all broke at the same, spot
but who's kiddin who, this isn't a DJ bike and yes this can and will happen

sorry bout your bike but its not surprising, those are some amazing bikes but pretty finesse oriented

I'll try to ride smoother:rolleyes: . I guess that's why they spec. the reinforced tubing and steel hardware right? And of course it's not made for dirtjumping!! I mean 4X/supercross? There's no big jumps in those events!! And why on earth would pros run the frame on selected DH courses, they must float over the stuff!!!!! :blah:

Math, I was doing a small double and when I landed I had a kickstand...

The welds were bad on the stay, I have a welder in the family and he said that the weld had only 50% contact. Bummer

Broke my bighit in the same spot. Specialized told me to get screwed when I tried to warranty it.
Wow, Specialized warrentied my friends chainstay on her FSR when the rear wheel qr came loose and the tire rubbed a hole in the chainstay. Even though it was her fault for not noticing until after an entire day of riding in the mud. No questions asked.

all that still doesn't mean they don't break which they do, check out the other people posting about fsr's breaking in the same spot

its only more reinforced than they're sc version of the bike, its still designed to be a light build 4x bike and not DJ and 4X are not even remotely similar, DJ abuse is ten times that of a 4X course

pros can run those frames all they want, I'm one and I sure wouldn't be running that bike unless I rode for specialized and/or had back ups, the pro's riding that on a DH course knows they are taking a chance on the frames lifetime

relax i wasn't bashin you or you're bike, its just that I find it humourous when people break bikes after they've been going hard on them, guess what bikes break, weve all done it and this design in particular has/had a flaw in that area

You knew this was gonna happen a week or two ago. Why'd you still ride it?
I did? Why didn't you remind me? I got a brand new link a while ago. The new break is totally different. Who cares, I just thought it would interest people to see a broken bike, I didn't expect all these responses, I feel special now.

You should see the jump it was huge! like 2 ft lip!
Are you kidding? We all know he was "just riding along". :blah:

I am really starting to questions Specialized's quality. There are the FSRs breaking all over. Then there is the small badly designed derailleur hanger used on most of the frames. We have had two Epics that needed new seatstays because of this come into our shop in the last month and a half. I thought replacable hangers where supposed to prevent this problem
