About a month ago I ran one over. I was jumping a big stair gap at a park in the city. I hit it once and was about to leave when a crackhead came up to me and stroked my ego. "Aw man that was cool, can you do it again".

"Of course". I replied and headed back to the runway. Now I am sans pads and only wearing my full face.

As I approached the jump at roughly 25mph, less than 10 yards from the lip a brown blur darts across my line. I feel the fork activate and I looked back to see what it was I just ran over. Then I remembered that I was gapping stairs at high speed.

I landed it semi clean but my weight shifted forward and as I grabbed brake nothing happened, I couldn't shut the bike down in time to avoid a concrete wall. So I laid it down.

The road rash that covered the right side of my body burned for about a week. The crackhead just laughed his ass off at me along with the skater boys who also were there.

Of course I went back to check on the squirrel expecting to find a 2.5" valley through the middle of his little squirrel body. It was gone. If it had been there dead, I woulda had it stuffed and mounted.

Your late....but yeah I hit a chipmunk on a DH run a few weeks ago, I sketched out hard trying to avoid it but then realized that its my badass nature to do my best to destroy small mammals.
hell yeah, that was sweet on the way back down from 94' DH, you plowed him over. It was really cool to see it from the back.

Ive hit one before... enough to make him run around like mad making that crazy pissed off noise that they make.

However a better little story is when I ran over a large black snake at speed on a DH single track section with my buddy close behind... it struck at his front tire. Later in the ride he had a slow leak flat... we never were sure if it was the snake that did it.

I've run over snakes...I just pick up my feet if I can't avoid them...one day I was riding this one very open, very dry, very hot area, and I came up on a BIG snake stretched across this single track, but his head was already in the brush and the end of his tail hadn't come out of the brush on the other side yet...and fortunately I stopped cuz I could, and I didn't want to run over the snake...well...I'm waiting for the bastard to clear the trail and his tail comes outta the brush...about an inch and half rattle. I was like EEWWWWWW...scary! So once he left I took off and not two seconds later, I round this switchback and a huge buck bounds out in front of me and nearly gave me a heart attack. I had the heebeegeebee's so bad I took the road back and I think I've only riden there once since then...big spiders all over that place too...

Ever come into contact with a Cane Spider? I was riding to a trailhead (through a cane field when I lived in Hawaii in '98) and ran through a big web stretched across the trail, about 30 seconds later I feel something on my arm and look down to see a cane spider about 2" across crawling up my arm - they are scary looking - all black and yellow with long legs and big bodies, it scared me so bad I think I went from 15 mph on the bike to running and swatting at my arm in about half a second :)
