THEN!!! The Cal State DH Champ arrived..
Adrian is very subtle in his ways of projecting his achievement.
This is what happens to your bike when you leave it at Ozzer's place for more than a night or two. Every inch gets covered with stickers that might shave off 6.86 seconds off your time. I hate those numbers

We didn't quite make it to the east coast so we have to make do with a West Coast road trip.

First leg of the trip, Mammoth.
first off, you have to drive there, at 4:00AM (that translates to 4:45AM Lovebunny standard time).

Can't remember if this is day 2 or 3 of our riding but all is from Mammoth, y'all.

Trip update:
After getting a beatdown at Mammoth, we hiked the Postpile area.

We left Mammoth on Tues at 1:30AM for the Yosemite Valley.
Started hiking to Half Dome at 4AM. 8mi seem harmless then.

Gnneeee....

6 hrs later, Half Dome, checked off our to-do list!!!

Looking for an easier way down back to the Valley.

Orven caught picking his nose on the edge.

Random shot by Oz. :(

21 miles, 11 hrs and 4800 ft of elevation gain and loss later, it was all worth it.

Then a lil R&R at The Rock/SF and Calistoga.

No firewoods here. :p

Then we rode (or tried to) Northstar today.

We were still sore from the long hike and our bodies just can't hack it today. The old school trails were rougher and meaner.

Oz was all over the place too. Live wire was closed today. :(

Take two at Gnar-Star tomorrow, then Downieville as a wrap.

Bootleg Canyon was awesome! Everyone owned up and rode like a demon. Andy, Sluck, Batchelor Boy, EdLubba, and Jackalope made BC their B!tch. Pics to post as soon as we get back!

Ozzer, Shyrmp... wished you coulda rode with us, but I seems that you guys had a better time... oh yea, Sluck and Andy owned the Beast!

So what ... you didn't make it to Mount Whitney?
You know, about this whole hiking/backpacking thing, we learned that a) you don't mix it up with a weeklong bike trip and b) we're rethinking the whole hiking idea as we are not that in great a shape.
Half Dome is enough for a dayhike.

sherms, I heard you made Adrian cry.. Yeaa!

Crap, we're back home.
While the coffee is still kicking in, might as well post some pics.

Day two at North Star:
We didn't take many pics at all since H and I split up doing our own thang.

Boondocks was fun. The lower part had new stunts on it and I ended up being a passenger than the driver of my bike.

On this trip, UST tubeless ROCKED! Unless you pick up a nail or wood chip or whatever that was I picked up near the village.

Gnar* wrapped up our resort stop.

Overall, I enjoyed riding N* a lot.
Livewire is cool but I really prefer the old school rough stuff.
Gypsy is hecka cool. Pho Dogg is awesome too.
Can't wait to get back fresh and not banged up.

Last stop, Downieville.
Downieville is so bike-everything that even our shared patio had bikes from our neighbors.

If you're the uppity and on-the-go type, Downieville will be too slow for you.
Nothing and noone starts/opens here earlier than 9am.

We're still waiting...

Waiting...

While waiting..

45 mins past 10, we're on.. woot woot!!

The XC riders got by us easily on the earlier rolling section.

Heather not too far behind.

The singletrack awesomeness begins.....

Heather cooling off.

She's brave. She went straight for it while I skirted way the hecka around the stream.

More cold water riding.

Fun high speed part. This is where we started picking off the XC riders (politely with courtesy).

Rippin thru the singletracks at DV made me fall in love with mountain biking all over again.

Overlooking Yuba.

Heather hacked it despite of bruises and fatigue from 2 days of beatdown at North Star.

Catching up.

Taking a breather pass the foot bridge.....

....for the start of the climb (or hiking for some) :p

Then some more high speed singletrack even Chuck Norris would weep in joy from riding it.

Onto the town of Downville..

The last part of the first divide trail really made me wish we had room for trail bikes on our trip.

Good times...

A bunch of us noobs hit up Bootleg Canyon the same weekend Orven was rippin up NorCal. It got up to almost 120 degrees out there and our dumbasses decided to ride anyway. Oh, the things we do.

[start mild sarcasm]

Up top, those with the big bikes decided to venture on to the DH trails
while the others decided otherwise.

It was like 6 in the morning but already the sun was beating down on
us. Luckily we had to hike to the trailhead. Here's Lovebunny's faster
brother trying to beat everyone to the top. Deng, slow down dude!

The trip was actually more for our boy Jason's bachelor party.
Here he is enjoying his remaining days of freedom. Poor guy.

And here he is again deciding whether he'd rather go down the trail or
commit hara kiri

Then impatient racer boy Andy comes down the trail nearly pushing
Jason off the mountain. What a jerk.

Followed closely by the giant slayer, Ultranoob. He looks better than
Lovebunny in this one.

Getting tired of all the waiting, racer boy Andy takes off

Only to cause a traffic jam later on. He just can't corner like Ultranoob.

After waiting for racer boy Andy to catch up we played around a bit at
the bottom. (Where we weren't moving much under that 118 degree
heat).

Andy and the Sluck only really went to Bootleg for one reason: that
damned teeter totter. After getting over the mental fock and finally
doing the damn thing, it made the two of us think why the fock were
we so scared of it in the first place? What a bunch of noobs.

Here's Ultranoob hucking something like a 10-divided-by-5 footer.

This guys hucks everything! Even the skinny! He invited himself to
the Huckers All-Star Jam afterwards. He was the only contestant.

One last time down the easier trails. Goddamn that was hard on a DH
bike. Waitaminute...where's the all-star hucker?

Oh. There he is. He hucked off the top and landed on the fireroad.
What a stud! Good thing he gets tired quicker than I do.

[end mild sarcasm]

Bootleg Canyon's always fun if you can stand the heat. Most of the time I was wondering what the weather was like in Norcal.

Good times with great friends though!

More (large size) riding photos of the above here

Orvan spent two days at N* and he didn't get in-touch with any of his friends in the area. he should be spanked for his unfriendly behavior.
I tried avoiding Kidwoo.
He's known to make you follow him on a trail with stunts without warning you and then watch you die.

That's how he squeeze freeride out of somebody.

Fight Club rule number 2, the SE trails in Murrietta aren't supposed to be shuttled. YOU ARE TRESPASSING ON A PRIVATE RD and BILL WILL TOW YOUR VEHICLES. Don't fock it up for others cuz of your lazy asses. Hike it!!

She'll be missed. I have one more Be One for sale, complete for $1200. Email me at orvenz@gmail.com for questions?
