Haha - or as seen through my eyes without my contacts in!
Looks like it's a steel frame - Donahue was riding Balfas before moving over to ride for Evil wasn't he? So perhaps he likes the feel of a steel frame. Just a guess.
1) The bike is all new from the ground up. It uses some new technology that we have developed for the Imperial SL and Sovereign frames.
2) The bike really has nothing at all to do with any of the bikes that Chris has ridden in the past. He has been absolutely raving about his Imperial, so Chris and I decided to collaborate on a new bike project.
You guys have to understand something about Evil as a company. We're not going out selling 2000 frames a year or something ridiculous like that. We build short runs of frames, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Sure, we could build and sell more, but thats not at all what its about for us.
We're building this D.O.C. frame because we think that it has features that we can offer to a whole new crowd of riders. This bike is planned to be equally at home in the city or on some of the higher speed, technical trails that Chris routinely destroys on the North Shore. Geometry is very similar to the Imperial, but tweaked for fork lengths and other parameters. The bike will be available in short and long sizes.
Sorry I have to be a little vague on the details, but hopefully we can release details soon!
