Can someone explain the real differences between all the styles of rides and riders?

DH<<< Age groups and true riding styles and terrain.

Freeride<<< " "

DJ/Urb<<< ect.

4X<<<<<Ect.

Reason I ask is because I see people calling things two different names/styles each for four types of labels. Esp the bike manufs. I see companies calling a bike a freeride while another company calls theirs a Dj/Urb/street while the bikes are very similar.

How much of the influencs now is BMX vs MTB ???
