Looks flexy.

So is that guy in the wrong size or do you have be a beefcake to get a proper fit? Most spandex shirt armor I've tried on needs to be pretty tight to keep the shoulders from flopping around.

Great price though.
that is also what I was thinking! That is what is so great about Dainese upper armor - it might firt tight, but it doesn't move when you crash.

Weird back.... I wonder if lack of flexibility will be an issue?
The hard plate looks pretty small I can't imagine moving around on it would be a problem. The large majority of the flex would happen around your waist to below your ribs....I would imagine.

That armor does look a few sizes to big for that skinny model. LOL

From the few dianese pieces I've owned, knee and elbow, that mesh stuff stretches. You've seen what I had to do to my knee pads to get them to fit right? You have to be really careful to keep an eye on it and make sure you don't start swimming around in it because it's getting too big. I know someone (zeke) who switched back to the really old dianese suit (grey jersey stuff) he had because he stretched out his newer mesh style jacket after a season.

I have a love/fear thing with dianese. The jackets feel really good and comfy but I could move around the shoulder cups way too easily when I had the thing on. I think they could use some more straps to keep everything snug. My shoulders seem to be a big target for me......well that and knees, and elbows, my head, and my ankle and my palms........ :p Karl got pretty worked last winter on his shoulders wearing that stuff in a crash that I don't think would have been an issue with another jacket.

It sucks though because the few times I've tried them on, they just feel sooooo natural without limiting any of your arm motions.

Then again....so does nudity.

Bull Sh*t! :mumble:

But then again everything seems to move, rip, shred, fall apart, etc.

I just ordered another Azonic top as I think it breaths the best... and I left my old upper on top the car when I left Idaho. Oops :o:

I love my Dainese bib lowers though, its just the price that sorta hurts.

well I just got my Dainese uppers...only used it twice.

I keep on going back to my old Azonic armor tho (the old fish netting one) - for some reason I find it soo comfortable?

What up Woo? How are things at N*?

Keep in mind we are talking about jackets. Knees & Elbows alone really don't compare. We have sold about 30 different models of Knee & Elbow pads and they fall into 3 categories. 1. Light weight & breathable, but don't stay in place too well. 2. Way overbuilt & hot, but stay in place. 3. Just plain crap.

My current favorite knee pad is the TLD Standard. Fits great, stays in place, very protective, but not overbuilt. The new Race Face / Roach knees are really good, just a bit more pad than I like.

Then there's the Dainese knee pads. The Freestyles are pretty awesome on their own, but don't quite fit me, and the Pros are great if you combine them with a 661 Padlock.

As for Karl's Dainese jacket. Well... it has 4 Pro DH seasons on it and is mostly held in place by his jersey. I don't think you can blame Dainese.

As for me the Dainese jacket, it is much better than anything I've ever tried. It just fits and stays in place better than anything else, plus is still very breathable compared to most anything else.

Unfortunately I'm broken right now. I haven't been to N* in a few weeks. I'll see you in bootleg sometime this winter.:thumb:

I mentioned the knee and elbow pads I've had just because of the mesh that's used in them is the same as the jackets.....and it stretches after some use. This is why the jacket (sized correctly) scares me. The shoulder pads didn't stay in place when I would hit them on a brand new jacket. I've also kind of knocked around the pads on people while they're wearing the gladiator jackets and they just don't stay there.....at least not to a degree that I'm comfortable with.

Even though Karl has an old jacket, he's gotten pounded just from the lack of padding in those things as well as from moving aside and exposing skin. I watched him knock is shoulder out of place in what didn't seem to me to be that hard of a crash. I know I've hit that hard in my jacket a few times. Maybe you can convince him to get a new one and I'll throw him out my car a few times as a test subject. haha

I've got an old ghetto bombshell jacket that I thought was kind of pitiful as far as fit when I got it, but I've pounded the crap out of my shoulders with that thing and have yet to come away with any injuries. And I've seen plenty of the alternative with folks wearing gladiator jackets, especially at high speed crashes where there's some rolling/sliding involved.

The way I look at it is this: The dianese stuff is made more for riding, not crashing. It's rediculously comfortable and light but just doesn't have the kind of meat that I'm pretty convinced I need. It's the best racing gear out there, I'll give you that. But I crash a lot more than I race. :D Some people don't.
