Last night I got a call to go to the skatepark. I packed up my camera gear in the dark because my electricity went out and headed out.

I took a bunch of pix but these are my favorites

Considering the size, that park gives lots of options. It is cool too because if you are there with only a few people you can use the whole place, whereas if the place is crowded there are several sections that can be run independantly of each other to keep everyone separate.

Cool pics. Was the power out at the skatepark as well? The shadows really make the pics look incredible. I can't decide if i like the 1st or 2nd one better but they are all poster material.

Nice shooting Josh. Are you running a slave on the strobe, or is it some other kind of remote? Did you just shoot at a high Fstop to get the effect that your strobe was the only thing lighting the ramp?

I did this with a radio remote flash. It triggers wireless and not dependant on a, on camera flash.
The power was not out. I could eliminate the light in the skatepark by overpowering it with the flash

I shot a low ISO with a very open f-stop to get minimal depth of field. By doing it the way I did, I almost eliminated the skatepark lights and only used the power of the flash to get the shot.
