Didn't get to ride saturday, but I squeezed in a quick ride yesterday. The local hiking club was there as well, so I tried to stay on different trails so everyone could enjoy themselves (me and them). On the way out, I got behind the group (probably 20 or so hikers). I was cool... crawled along at their pace, not pushing them, not asking to pass - trying to be polite. There were a couple of stream crossings that they slowed waaay down for to try to find the driest way across. While they waited, a couple of the people at the end of the group chatted with me - so they knew I was there.

I followed them along at that pace for about 1/4 of a mile - probably 10 minutes. Finally, we came to a stream crossing where they all went down stream about 50 feet to a shallower/drier place to cross. By the time the last few people were out of the way, the first few were showing up on the other side of the stream - right in the middle of the trail. Knowing they were going to be a few minutes, I asked if I could scoot by. A couple people at the end of the group said sure, no problem (were very nice about it). One of the guys at the front gave me "a look". I rode by, and heard 3 or 4 people at the front mumbling... "jerk"... "ass". Whatever - I've followed your slow asses for 10 minutes. Take 15 seconds and let me pass.

Rode in the leaves saturday. It was fun. Quite challenging actually. Went down hard once and watched my partner go down hard twice. Not business as usual that for sure. Took us 2 hours to ride what we normally ride in a hour. All the off camber stuff and benching was filled with leaves and sticks. Lots of limbs to clear and remove too. Kind of pisses me off that folks ride around stuff instead of moving it. Climbs were all rough. Kind of cool how you ride from memory when you can't see the trail. All in all it was good. Took apart our hubs on sunday and attempted to rebuild them. Atleast I got the ready to be serviced. I have to find a CK service tool. The bikes are all ready to go for the next ride atleast......jdcamb

Got in a couple nice rides over the weekend, trying to climb in leaves on the singlespeed is a bit much so it looks like I'm back on the geared bike for a while.

Got to ride Saturday and Sunday. Weather was perfect and the trails were nice and dry. Leaf cover was heavy so I stuck to local trails I know well, it was even hard following some of them. Saturday I rode solo for 3 hours of hard constant riding. Sunday I got in about 3 hours of social riding with some teammates, which meant 10 minutes of hard riding followed by a 5 minute discussion on something horribly geeky like bike geometry brake types etc, repeat.

I got out on the Roady on Saturday with my son in the trailer. We did a 30 mile loop from our house. He loves getting out in the trailer. At one point we stopped so I could munch on a cliff bar and he decided that my cliff bar was better than the bag of goldfish that I brought for him. We finished snacking and I was going to let him run around for a bit since he had been in the trailer for a while. He crawled back into the trailer and sat there looking at me like "What are you waiting for.......get your butt back on that bike and pull me." :D It was a great ride! And, there's nothing like doing a ride w/ 50+ extra pounds behind the bike.

No rides, but lots of housework/yardwork Saturday, followed by a small "party" at my house with a bunch of MBC's friends. I spent yesterday nursing a hangover. :dead:

No riding this weekend. That sucked because it was in the 60's here this weekend! Gotta group ride tonight around 6pm. It's supposeed to be like 25 degrees at ride time tonight. Brrrrr!!!! Should be interesting though, we had HUGE windstorms on Friday.

Nightride + windstorms = lots of downed limbs = trouble! :dancing:

Had me a couple of nice rides. Encountered hikers at both places and they all moved. I got off of my bike when there were a bunch of scouts or whatever on the trail. Just out of courtesy. Everyone I met on the trail was more than pleasant. Horse people were even pleasant yesterday.

Yep, even though our ride leader got lost and we had to pass through the same group three times.

*I guess Saturday's pics didn't warrant posting.

I was horrible with the camera. I got it figured out yesterday. Julie took most of them though. The Cleburne pics sucked.

edit - I will post yours tonight. The ones of Tracy sucked. Too early or too late.

Did the 'cross race at Greene, NY yesterday. 3 sets of triple barriers, lots of twisty turns, one ginormous hill runup (more of a walk up) that was about 300m long. Fun course, although I busted a chain = DNF. Lots of fun anyway though.

Yea, I know - it was mostly just a rant. All of the trails around here are multi-use, so I almost always see other people on the trail. In the 3 years I've been riding, this is the first poor experience I've had with hikers.

I had a good 2+ hour ride with a couple buddies yesterday. Weather was perfect. Trail was in pretty good shape, except for a number of sections that don't get any sun. Those were pretty sloppy from the snow we had last week. Rode a new section that I'd never been on before. Tight, twisty and steep. Lots of people on the trails including hikers and horseback riders. All were nice and friendly. I stopped and dismounted for a group (6-7) of horseback riders and they were all very grateful that I didn't want to spook their horses. The only person that ticked me off was another biker. I was bombing down the looooong downhill back to the trailhead and got behind this girl who just would not get out of my way. She was completely clueless that I wanted to pass. She was even trying to be all chatty with me whenever she'd slow down for a techy section, but every time that I'm just about to ask if I could pass, she'd take off and I'd be stuck on her tail. It was a decent tail though, so it could have been worse.

Rode Saturday, leaves were dry, thanks to the heavy winds, had to stop every once in a while to clear the downed trees and branches. Which was a plus for me since it was my third ride since breaking my arm in August.
There were a few trees that my buddy and I couldn't move, but we were having a trail maintenance day on Sunday so it worked out good.

Sunday, trail maintenence: did some clearing of fallen trees and rock armoring some nasty muddy sections.

<rant>
I know some riders aren't into doing the trail maintenance, but if you see someone who is doing some work on the trails, at least act like we aren't intruding on you Sunday stroll. ATTITUDES SUCK!!
There were 5 people doing work on the trails, and about 50 out riding.
If we could have gotten 10% of the riders to help with the trail maintenance, we would have doubled the crew for that day.
</rant>

Did get a quick ride in after the work was done, and went home to watch the Pats.

He's almost 2. I also took him to check out a tricycle on Sunday. He is just now getting big enough that he can reach the pedals. :D I think my parents are going to get one for him for Christmas. We might have to pimp it out a bit with a Maxxis sticker or two. :thumb:

Oh yeah!!! High noon and Bee were hard hit. I didn't hit the Dam loop, but my guess is there are limbs down. Be on the alert. We cleared some of it (what we could move) but there are quite a few down. I would love to ride tonight, but can't....my light died :dead: RIP

Rode for a long time on Saturday...hit all but one of our trails at SMBA and it was AWESOME!!! The wind storm did a lot of damage so we spent some time cleaning up too. Had a nice crash and got a lot of laughs from the guys ( :mumble: ) but I got back up and went back to hit the f'n rock again and did it with style the 2nd time LOL!

No riding for me on Sunday, lawn work and played a matinee of our show.

Ok ok :)

This was at White Ranch. There's a new connector section that splits off of Belcher Hill just after the re-routed bottom section. Well, relatively new. The last time I was at White was probably 3 months ago and I don't believe it was there at the time. Just as you finish the re-routed lower singletrack, you take a right (north/west) at a new intersection and it puts you on a fun twisty smooth trail that eventually tees into the Longhorn trail. The new section is really fun. Not very long, but twisty and smooth with not a lot of climbing and great views of the plains. It then tees into the Longhorn trail, which stays twisty but becomes rocky and STEEP. I'm not a big fan of the Longhorn section of White, but the new connector trail is really nice.

Rode from home out to the trails, up to the snowline and around. Total trip was around 4 hours. 4 hours of glorious singletrack, sunshine, and patches of snow. The weather was completely awesome and the trails were hardpack and FAST! I couldn't have asked for a better Sunday afternoon.

I rode on Saturday on Tunnel trail, an infamous DH ride in SB. The day was beautiful, the best traction conditions I've seen all year, damp (not wet) and grippy.

I was having a great ride until.......some Sierra club mudda-fukka tells me I'm causing erosion riding in these wet conditions  Bull! I told him to come out the next trail maintenance and help out if he cares so much. Preaching to me like I'm some ignorant punk :eviltongu GAH!

lucky bastards and your bike riding. All bikes here are hung in my bike room, except for my slalom bike which i use to commute.

I spent all weekend writing a really exciting paper about media use and controls by politicians in post communist eastern and central europe

Set up a ramp Saturday and continued what has been for me the hopeless task of learning to jump. Surprised myself by nailing the landing the first time, followed by many repeats. No idea what changed, but I'm stoked.

Couldn't range out, 'cause I'm on call.

I fractured my elbow while riding in BB two weeks ago...although I just found out there is a possibility that the ER may have missed the fact that I also broke my wrist as well

I'll know more after I see the bone specialist on Wednesday. I may just decide to become right-handed before it's all over ;) :D
