So the whole Facebook thing is getting out of hand. Now my ex wife has added me as a "friend". We have a decent relationship, because of my 16 y/o son with her, but if it wasnt for him, she would be a non entity...

Do I let her into my Facebook circle? What do Monkeys think?

I believe you can limit certain peoples "rights" when it comes to viewing your info and activity. I learned this with a certain bat**** crazy stalker chick.

she shouldn't be able to add you with out your permission, and you can unfriend her with out her knowing it.

If you have to have her, I'd set it for minimum permissions. You have to poke around to set them all but it may be worth it.

just don't accept her if you don't want to. she will probably never notice since facebook doesn't email you to tell you someone accepted you and she is most likely new to FB so she is probably adding lots of people making it more likely she'll not notice. Also she could just assume you don't frequent FB and since she's not your friend she can;t view your profile to prove otherwise. As a last resort you can always set your privacy settings so your virtually invisible. Your photo (and even posts I believe) can be made only visible by your friends.

you can put her in a special group by herself and manage what she sees.

Stinky, the reason he has a 16-year-old son is why he SHOULD be on facebook. You can keep up with what your kid is up to.

If I were TheMooShu's dad, I would start by looking through his posts on Ridemonkey, then beating him with household objects.

    Facebook would be second.

Face book is a great place to meet other women to start a new relationship. He did say she was an X. Friends have friends and sometimes they see your comment on a buddy's page and then come ask if they can be a friend. It's a better set up than myspace which is all kids. As to letting her in, are you getting any still? If so, yes. If no, NO! Just don't answer her request. She want's to keep up with what you're up to and will see all your comments and doings online and with who. She might even send them emails saying nasty things about you to prevent you from meeting people. I'd say no to her.

Thanks IH8...but I am remarried, and the ex and the current HATE each other. May be a good reason to say yes...

And Stink, I think you are talking about the MySpace. It seems to be the place for the teen types.

I think she will get ignored. Just like she used to do when I would ask about the child support he was supposed to send me....

Social stalking sites are for kids and freaks with the exception of LinkedIn. Wait, that site blows too. If I quit a job, I need weakness from my last job following me?

    Stick 'n move...

If you want to contact people, send them an email, text or make a call.

When all your friends and aquaintances are using a social networking site, it kinda makes you the odd man out if you're not using it. My wife talked me into creating a Facebook page last week. I have since been in contact with many people I only see 3 or 4 times a year at the big medieval events we do. I have met no new people, and have ignored those I do not know. Works fine for me, and I hate social networking sites.

Why even bother with that new-fabled computer technology when you can write a letter and drop it off in your mailbox?

how is facebook such an important part of your life that you would take time to think about who you want added as a "friend" much less start a thread??? that **** is fake. its the internet.

also if you have a teenager that is on facebook, save them the embarrassment and don't join.

:stupid: I have some former students that "friended me" and I wasn't sure what to do, but like to see what they're doing in college and am friends with their parents so I went for it.

Grow up and cancel facebook. RM is the only legitimate social internet activity for sophisticated adults such as ourselves.

Or haven't, as is the case with a lot of people I went to high school with.

I've even learned that one of my former classmates can be looked up under Megan's law :twitch:

My Xwife friended me on Facebook when she joined. We don't really stay in contact but still have a group of mutual friends. It's interesting to see her status changes after her nights of partying and her on/off again relationship with her stoner boyfriend.

It just reaffirms why I'm not with her anymore.:happydance:

Cut me a break, if your child is 16 you should respect your him/her enough to stay out of their private lives. When you start snooping around their text messages, aim conversations, facebook/myspace pages, you're being over protective.

if you have to resort to the internet to figure out what is going on in your child's life...i think you're in trouble.

    :busted:
