Despite a forecast of a chance of rain, the weather turned sunny and cool and Rob and I met a friend at Minnewaska (a NYS park known for its rocky ridges and world famous rock climbing). We did about 23 miles of trails, many of which took us right along the cliffs. There were some massive climbs followed by fast downhills and frequent switchbacks.
An early waterfall. We started at the base and climbed WAY up
At the top of the day's first large climb
We rode around Lake Awosting
Rob on the beach of Lake Awosting
The Kona hangs out on the beach. We saw a huge group with people riding at least 12 Konas....Kona orgy!!
Rob on the way up the first climb to the cliffs
At the top
Lake Awosting in the distance
Lake Minnewaska
Lunch stop on Gertrude's Nose
Some hawks over the ridge. We also spotted some falcons and turkey vultures
Hopefully Rob will post the topo from his GPS. We were definitely way up there!
