Anyone know of any good trails to check out this fall/winter for DH? Now that the resorts are closed we're looking around to see what else is available

Virginia/North Carolina preferrably but if there's some good stuff in WV or PA we're all about it!!!!

Any suggestions welcome!!!

Windrock, TN. There's no lift, but it's an easy shuttle run and the trails are world class. Your mind will be blown, I guarantee it.

Tell me more, my brother and my buddies and I used to go down that way with our jeeps all of the time, if I can snag a ride down with my bike I'd love to learn more about it.

Do a search in here and the Southeast forum. There have been tons of threads, pics, etc.

Windrock is basically a gigantic (hundreds of thousands of acres) recreation area owned by a coal mining company and originally designated as an ATV area. A few years back some guys started building DH trails there, and you wouldn't believe the work they've done. World-class, expert-level trails with 2000'+ of vert. Most runs are in the 4-6 minute range, but there's at least one trail that is so long and gnarly it will take you at least 10 minutes if you're pinned at race speed. Seriously. You won't believe the place.

Dick. Our resorts are open for 4 more weeks but we got our first snow yesterday. I was excited for global warming but it is turning out to be a scam.
Wurd. Ya I think we'll get in another month at least of lifts, probably 2, and a small chance of more than that! Yay socal.

wUrd. Windrock is ridiculously fun. Lots of variety, well built and maintained safe trails. Lots of fast flowy DH trails, you could spend months there.

Yeah I saw that, but I have obligations to my son this weekend :D, we're carving pumpkins since he is with his mom for Halloween this year. I lived about as far north as you can get in Michigan for years, so some winter riding down there will be 100% tolerable for me. Maybe in a couple weeks I'll try to get down that way.

To the rest of you I hope you have a ton of fun!

Another vote for Windrock!

Wilson Creek area of Pisgah has some excellent burly riding as well, but you'll have to work for most of it. It can also be a total maze in some areas. You'll want an escort.
