Do you think mixing family and business always causes un-do work and stress. I don't mean little mom and pop stores really either.
For example the secretary's boyfriend here was contracted to do the accounting for us. That has been causing major friction lately and emotions and tempers have flared within the office for stupid crap.

The one guys father who works here owns a contracting company so he's working on one of our jobs with us. That has caused emotions to run high and fights to start within the office.

I worked at a company that was started and had about 5-6 people all from one family. It caused a lot of problems as well.

You should always try to sleep with all of the chicks in your office to ease tension. Not good to marry them. Just use them for sex.

The first company I worked for I just messed around with 2 of the chicks there... that was weird for like weeks after. Just make sure they're not in your dept.

I used to work for a company that was family owned. Father (CEO), Mom (Office Mgr.), Son #1 (Sales Mgr.), Son #2 (Web Master) and Son #3 (general stooge). My brother-in-law was the purchasing agent for this business and I was the warehouse mgr.. Apprently the Dad (let's call him Mr. Dickhead) felt that the sons (who were essentially little Dickhead clones) could run the whole show by themselves. So...long story short he canned me, and then my brother-in-law too within 3 months of each other. (my bro had been there 8 years).

I am happy to report however that last I heard the business was floundering (and I was able to key his Lincoln when I went back to pick up my final pay check).

Family + Work = Menendez brothers.

A family member will always be the first to ask you to work late, or that you are doing a s*ty job. All that does is create friction for your co-workers. When you are being screamed at to hurry up, the co-workers might as wel be getting screamed at as well.

I work at a place that I have slowly found out over five years that half the people are related that work there. It sucks because you have a lot of poor performers that never get fired because the are "in the family." I've found it to be ideal for no one to be of any relation whatsoever, even friends, to work in an organization. When feelings and emotions between family are mixed with business, it usually is disastrous - IMO.

at my company (which i'm leaving on july 8! :D i just told them my departure date today), the president's mother and nephew both are also in the organization. it's a hotel group, and the mother owns one of the hotels so she's a bigshot, and the nephew was just a mid level manager who is getting the can this month... so go figure.
