How do I change the cable in an 8speed XT shifter? THe little screw I'm used to removing on 9speed doesn't exist... do I have to strip the whole thing down?!

there's a plate held in by 2 little screws... you'll figure it out.

FWIW, my 8spd LX shifters, if I remember correctly, came out of a small hole (no screw) that wasn't readily visible. You have to be in the right gear to see the cable though.

Haven't used the XT ones, I just remember that I had trouble locating it on my 8spd LX...

yep, cheers SirChomps, I would have tried that earlier but I couldn't find a screwdriver small enough, now I know it I've dug one out and you're spot on

Don't lose those damn little screws........ I hate XT 8 spd shifters. I had much better luck with LX.
